Trailer Xbox 360 PS3

Namco Europe released this new trailer of Tales of Vesperia, and according to them it's brand new. Funnily (or not, depending on where you live) enough, this is for the 360 version of the game, still to be released in Europe, and not the upcoming PS3 release. This is getting complicated...

I really wanted to play this game, but after trying the demo I wasn't convinced. But it got really high review scores and it looks cool, so maybe I'll give it a try anyone. Anyone here played it??

Same here. Game looks great but what i dislike the most is the realtime battle system. It just not fits my picture of a JRPG. I'm all in favour of Lost Odyssey.

when you people learn that rpgs demos most of the times are shitty and don't represent or do any favours to the quality of the game?

Best jRPG of last year, too bad Euroland was burned with Namco's crazyness.

My problem with these games is the way they keep handling them.. It's exclusive to the 360, but they always end up announcing a superior version for the PS3, so why should I bother with an inferior game on the 360?

By the time the PS3 version is out, I just don't care anymore, or don't feel like handing money over to a developer that screws over their fanbase like that.

Does the European 360 version at least have the new features? Or do they just really hate the Xbox?

Did you see the new character in this trailer? If you did not, then I can pretty much safe to say that no, the Xbox 360 version is identical to all other Xbox 360 versions except maybe added language tracks.

Personally I'm pissed of to, it would be OK enough if they released the added stuff as an download patch, but what mostly piss me off is that they had the plans to have that character and those stuff to begin with. You can even find references of PATY's name in the binary code in the game.

The way to fuck your EU-fansbase:

1.) Region Lock on NTSC-version
2.) Let half a year slip by without any release announcement for the EU
3.) Release the game almost a year later than the US
4.) Don’t fully localize the game anyway
5.) Don’t add content that was planed anyway
6.) Rerelease the game another year later on another system with all that for even more money
7.) Be astonished that the game does not sell as expected

They are dickheads.

Pretty much.

Doesn't make the game less awesome, though.

It does when we're missing out on features that should be there.
I'm not even going to comtemplate buying the game for this reason alone, on any system.

The demo sucked and really doesn't capture the atmosphere the game has. I hated the demo too, but ended up getting the game because of the good reviews. Glad I got it.

Definitely looking nice. Looks just as good as the 360 version, and I gotta admit I was thinking it might not.

You are confused. While the PS3 version of ToV does indeed look as good as the 360 version, the above trailer is for the 360 version as it has yet to launch in Europe.

Oh damn, you're right. Didn't read that.

Man, they really dragged their feet to get this out in Europe.

I spent 100 hours on star ocean TLH , 150 hours on Lost odyssey , and 200+ hours on Tales of vesperia ... Tales of vesperia is the best JRPG on Xbox 360 , believe me , the demo mean nothing compare to the full game .

have you played any of the other Tales games?
or maybe Star Ocean (its not exactly alike mind you but would get you in a general ballpark)?
if so, you know what you're getting. If you hated the other Tales games, you're probably not going to like Vesperia much.

If you have no experience whatsoever, its hard to judge what your tastes would be, but it was a great game and easily one of the best jrpgs the 360 has. far better than a couple other jrpgs hyped more for a certain name in the credits.

if you can rent, give it a go
if you can't rent, but liked the previous Tales games, there's nothing in Vesperia to not like
if you can't rent and you hated previous Tales games, move along cause you're not going to like this one
and if you can't rent and you've never experienced any Tales game whatsoever, its a great entry to start with

If you ask me it's Eternal Sonata, followed distantly by Lost Odyssey (and only for its amazing short stories).

And if you ask me Eternal Sonata was a waste of money and time.

Well ToV might be okay but after being mistreated it’s rather difficult to happily go to the store and give the guys fucking you 50 bucks.
I have the urge to punish them by deliberately not buying their damn game they didn’t want me to play in the first place.

I guess it will boil down to what’s there next for me to play after I finished SO4… if I’m bored I might get ToV anyway.

I bought the US version of this when it came out a year ago. I wasn't impressed. Visually it has it's moments, but Eternal Sonata did this type of look much, much better. The sound is bland and has some of the worst US-English dubbing I have ever heard. It's truly abysmal, and there's no option for the original Japanese cast.

As for the game itself, it's a cookie cutter action/button masher RPG with a generic story. Pretty dull and I couldn't bring myself to finish the game. Lost Odyssey remains my favourite JRPG this gen by far.

Not quite. It may look like that in Europe where games are released with such a large time gap, but elsewhere (or in my case where games aren't released at all and i have to import them, or buy them in english a couple of months later, sad thing T_T) they are released just a little time after the american release. You guys do get additional content with some j-games, but rpgs are not always the case.

But saying they are betraying Microsoft seeing how they are developing Dream Club for their system, i just can't picture it. If i were in the US i'd definitely only own a Xbox360, if i were a j-games addict, just because they get the games first. I'd hate to have to wait over a year to get the PS3 version, then again, i hate Microsoft for their exclusivity contracts...

Hope you guys get a lot of extras (even the extra character, though it doesn't seem like it), but for me, Patty Fleur isn't enough, a proper Vesperia 2 would do it though.
