Agreed....Look at the second and third pic, it looks like they did a really bad crop of the car and pasted it into the nice looking tunnel.

I think it's the motion blur/r that makes Screenshots look like that.

This really bugs me in a racing game: Why aren't the tyres round??? This isn't the 90s dammit!
And the handling needs some tuning if the demo is anything to go by...unless all cars playable in the demo had crap handling in real life....

<_<

I agree, tires should have a lot more polygons, hell, even PGR 3 forgot about that on a few cars like the F40!!!
Rims and tires stand out every time you take a close up pic.

The demo totally blew me off of this game. They continually talk about how they can achieve so much with way less polys and still have the cars look good. The thing is, the cars and environments in PGR3 don't look good... they look amazing, there is a difference. A lot of hard work went into PGR3 and you can see it just by playing the game and experiencing it fora while. I haven't been playing PGR3 lately.. but that's mostly due to me being in college now.. my life (or whatever I did before college) is gone completely.. I redused to posting in forums whenever I can to get my gaming fix... thank god my course ends before most big games hit the shelves... like GoW and halo 3.

tradeoffs. In day to day play of the game how often do you see the wheels that close? At a guess they already will have around 1000 polygons as is. Add more to the wheels, where are you going to take polygons from? Artists work to set limits to maintain a predictable level of performance. You can't double the count just on a whim. Personally I think it looks fine.

Why do they keep trying to hype up this utter piece of crap.

Seriously. And in all this comparison to PGR3, let's not forget that PGR3 has very tight control over what's visible to the player, so more polys can be dedicated to cars and misc. eye candy. In TDU the number of cars on screen is not restricted to eight, and the environments are not only MUCH bigger, but also more complex since you can go any where at any time rather than being stuck on a predetermined route.

And anyway who gives a damn? How can anybody not be thrilled with a game that gives you so much freedom to explore/race/do anything? It's really like oblivion with cars.

Maybe if you had spent the last two years coding a game. You may want to
hype it just a little bit too.

When I played the demo of this game, i though the graphics did not look as good as they do in the screens. I mean, i know there is a difference between screens and in-game, but the difference here was too much. I try to blame it on my display, an SD-TV, but since I am not changing it anytime soon, I think I'll have to pass on this game or at least wait for reviews cuz also as for gameplay the game was just like any other racer. The whole interactive city thing is just a glorified 3D pre-game lobby and nothing more.

Well I've been following this game avidly since I found out about it. I love the demo, sure things still need to be fixed and polished up a bit but I for one cannot wait to get to play the full game. Like one guy said, this will be like Oblivion but with cars. I love games that let you do your own thing and free roam and this certainly does. Just cruising around discovering new places is awesome. Driving along a sun drenched coastal road with the ambience and sounds of the road is amazing and very relaxing imo. Then you have the full on competitiveness of the races and the buying of properties and cars as well.

I'm hoping this will be the definitive driving/racing game until at least Gran Turismo HD arrives on the PS3.

Roll on September I say :)

i still think i might be buying this even though i did not like the gameplay that much at first, but it will make a nice mmo style race and also the driving might not have been that good but it's not hard to learn how to control the car. I think i might enjoy this and the graphics are quite nice so i will be getting this.

Mmmmm, well, this game is going to have a Photomode, so every time you take a pic you'll see those nasty wheels.
And where are they going to get the polygons from?, from the other 60,000 polygons PGR 3 managed to add and still run at 30 fps.
I would understand if it was running at 60 fps, but at 30, this is just plain lazyness.

I dont really give a damn about visuals. looks good enough to me, knowing that this is supposed to be MMO game (allgthough demos mmo side didnt work pretty mutch at all, when it was open one day).
If they get this sorted, another big issue to me was fysics/handling. No feeling of suspension. Proper drifting was impossible. You can do 180mph and do hard left/right steering and its impossible to lose control. Perhaps there is some stupid traction control system going on what can't be turned off (demo).
I still played demo for long time. Game idea is fresh (allhought Motor city online did everything right years ago) and free cruising around is good fun.
If they get mmo side working like charm and car handling gets seriously improved (and driving "aids" can be turned off) by september, Im deffinetly going to try this out. Too bad that TDU is supposed to be out by this september, so those frencies are going to have busy summer.
TDU is done by eden studios, what is responsible for those horrible v-rally games. Still hoping they get things sotred out and E3 demo doesnt represent anything like code they are working on right now.

Well I played Forza on the Xbox and GT4 on Playstation and can wholeheartedly say that I much prefer Gran Turismo. I don't want to get into a debate about which is better cos it's pointless, both are great games it's just a matter of which u prefer.

I know for one that I am eagerly awaiting the next Gran Turismo game on PS3. I sure hope Forza 2 is gonna be good too cos I'll play any decent racing game.

You are right. Anyways, things look good for driving fanatics. PGR3 keeps getting new stuff regular basis, moto gp is released whitin a month and TDU at september. Wouldnt be supridsed if TDU would get pushed back, but lets hope not.
Then Forza 2 at holiday season (release date is tattooed on some MS bloke, like halo2 had, so I guess it will be out then for sure). Dont know when next GT is out, but propably allso going to be kick-ass racing sim.

Can't wait. Honestly. I loved the demo, with the exception of the time limit and other restrictions. This is so beyond PGR3. Go anywhere on the island? Create-a-player? MMO racing?

I think the graphics for this type of scale are great. The Mustangs are spot on. I just showed this to my girlfriend, who sadly just sold her 05 mustang GT and SHE is excited to play.

Honestly, some of you guys will bitch about ANYTHING.
