Go on youtube and you'll find quite a few gameplay vids (Y)

Looks visually stunning, and could potentially be one of the best games of 2008.

Looks stunning. At the rate which game visuals are progressing, we'll be playing on a new engine that's capable of almost true to life visuals within the next 5 years or so. This game is almost there already. It's all about the lighting. So far, there are three games that nail realistic lighting to the point where it tricks the eyes into believing it's real, and those games are PGR4, CoD4, Crysis, and now this.

I think he was typing "Halo" while his keyboard magically was the smarter one and typed "Far Cry" :P

Far Cry is not overhyped what so ever!...but it will as soon as new media and infos shows up.

I won't have any problem with it, because I love what I see in Far Cry 2, so bring it on.

Anyone know if its like the original pc version? or like the "instincts/predator" console versions?

As in, will it be focussing on the beast ability thing or will it be a proper shooter?

That's not "pre-rendered", believe me. Go see the gameplay demonstrations over at Gametrailers, you'll thank me for it. This really looks like real life, it's amazing. I can't wait to interact with all the animals!

So, it's called the DUNIA Engine. Most impressed, I am.

tid - The console version is gonna be like the PC, no more "spin off".
The only thing that is gonna be different is the graphics of course.
But how much different is yet to be seen and too early.

The PC version is being made by the Far Cry Instincts team, and like others have said, the console version will almost certainly be the same game.

It's such a funny thing because the developers were going on so much about "We're focusing on the PC version" and everyone knew a console version would be announced, and now it is. It's just odd because I'm sure they planned console versions all along (unless they're even dumber than I give them credit for), so why did they bother with that shit?

Set in the sunny Savannah's of Africa, Far Cry 2's story is driven by a single goal: Kill an evil arms-dealer warlord who's left you, a mercenary, dying of malaria in a hotel. To do this, you'll need to work-at your own pace and discretion with two opposing mercenary factions who've each been given the empty promise of diamond rights to the area by a government that has since fled town along with most of it's citizens. What remains is a tense war zone for you to navigate through."

Far Cry 2's engine: Grass blows in the wind and gets trampled, trees can be shot apart, clouds pool together to affect lighting conditions, sun filters perfectly through treetops and roads are dynamically altered by the tracks of passing vehicles."

Choose your own adventure: You don't play as a specific character in Far Cry 2. Instead, you pick one of 10 choices, and the rest (plus three others you can't play as) will be fully autonomous buddy NPCs living in the game world. You can take missions from them or work with them, and they'll help you in return. You can even kill them if you wish- if you're a jerk.

Also of note is that saving your game is handled via houses you'll find in the game world. You can sleep in them and set your alarm to wake up at any desired time. Thus, if you want to try and tackle a particular mission under the cover of night, you can set your alarm for 2 a.m."

50 sq kilometer game world, no scripted A.I. behavior, or on the fires that can burn the dry grassy plains and flammable huts."

not sure how much of this info is known or not, but thought i would post it anyways.

Glad we're not getting a "Far Cry Instincts". Judging from some demonstration footage I've seen, this game is going to be pretty awesome. The "fire system" is amazing and the physics as seen in Crysis are equally impressive.

I'm sure they'll have to make a few trade-offs here and there for the console versions, mostly in graphical fidelity. But if all the physics/AI interaction is in place for the console versions as well, it'll be awesome for sure.

Can't wait to see some 360/PS3 gameplay footage!

You know, I couldn't help but feel that crysis wanted to be more of the same with some new gadgetry. This attracts me a lot more as it's something I haven't seen before.

Hope this works out well.

that was a lame teaser. the graphics are very unconvincing. this is a PC trailer too and all they showed was 2 animals, some grass, like 3 trees, and buildings that don't have that much more detail then Assassin's Creed's buildings. like come on the 360 can easily do these graphics that were shown in this video because they showed nothing graphically intense. they need to show more video on action that i seen in screenshots.
