Trailer PC PS4 Xbox One

Better late than never, or not, you tell us. But here is the direct feed 1080p E3 teaser of Mirror's Edge that Electronic Arts released today. It is game engine footage, the title is a reboot and has no release date yet as the game's development is in early stages.

DICE, don't fuck this up and you can have a great sequel on your hands. The combat needs to be heavily improved on so it doesn't interrupt the flow where you're mostly using it to get past enemies as obstacles rather than forcing it. And more chases from enemies please, that moment later in the first game was awesome!

Also, have more runners interacting in chases, which could then be connected to multiplayer races to get the package delivered.

Making it open world is a wise decision as I hope it's not just a tick on the box but also making the level design more dynamic than always just one way that you have to trial-and-error which slows down the pace a lot.

I can't believe this is happening!

Hear, hear - agree with these points ... but keep in mind that the point a to point b approach (non open world) gave Mirrors Edge it's, what's the word, feel.

Perhaps this could be realized with an open world that exhibited more paths but utilized the existing system. Something I "feel" would take longer to develop for.

The first game was so heavily scripted that perhaps EA/Whoever would be afraid to go against this mold.

Yeah, I really hope the open world doesn't feel generic in terms of getting around. Maybe multipath level design like Deus Ex. No silly fast travel, catching a ride on top of a train Infamous-style would be cool. Most open world games have pretty boring ground level design, so I hope they take more cues from Prototype/Infamous/Crackdown but just in first person.

Doesn't make a difference, it's another Mirror's Edge! Although would have liked to see Faith as a leader of runners as hinted in the ending.

Don't get your hopes up either then which makes ALL the difference. EA were at the VERY TOP of their game in 2008. This and Dead Space changed the world's attitude towards them and then they slowly destroyed their reputation again over the next 5 years with Dead Space being the most current destroyed franchise. It should be good and hopefully it will be.

EA this, EA that. EA DO NOT make Mirror's Edge. It is developed by DICE. Thank you for making me state the obvious.

Dice has shown that they haven't been dragged down by EA, consistently making excellent games up to Battlefield 3. I'm not too concerned. EA knows that what they do works very well.
