Trailer PS4 Xbox One

Bandai Namco Games has released a teaser trailer for Tekken 7. All we know right now is the game's running with Unreal Engine 4. More info on July 25 during their SDCC panel.

I'd like to get hyped, but i need some more info first. I mean, after spending a bit more time with it Tekken Revolution is garbage. It did some thing well, but it did others incredibly poorly. Then again, TTT2 isn't amazing either. Too many characters, too many extra juggle things to keep track of and retarded combo damage. I guess i kinda want Tekken Revolution, but without the stats leveling or the invincible super moves. That'd be good. Yeah.

The Unreal engine thing is very disappointing. Would rather a brand new game engine built around the genre rather than a game built around the capabilities/shortcomings of a game engine.
Wonder if they have shelved TK X SF for now too. It was around a year ago Harada said they were still working on it.

Namco is so weird. I'm still holding on to a sliver of hope for Soul Calibur.

How is this not making wild assumptions, and jumping to conclusions?

Seeing as how the Tekken team is obviously complete shit when it comes to the technical aspects (i mean TTT2 looks ok, but it's hardly impressive), maybe them adopting UE is nothing but good. Not to mention, you know that developers can edit the damn engine to suite their needs, right? Why do everything from scratch, when you can just modify something already good to work? This idea that middle ware is bad and makes everything look the same is so f**king stupid.

People, let's not act like NeoGaf and condemn a game we haven't even seen gameplay for yet. Let's wait and see what this game has to offer first, THEN we can state it's strenghts and weaknesses. Just sayin...

This is very exciting to me, I really can't wait. Thank you so much for sharing!

And I just cannot see how any negative comments about this game are justifiable at this point. Go find a game that's already out and complain about that.

The Tekken 6/ TTT2 engine sucked ass, sub 720p no AA garbage. had they not picked an engine like UE4, they would have settled for sub 900p mediocrity on their own. If you don't know what UE4 can do you should seriously look it up; cause they made some serious improvements over the years.

Holy crap, if the Tekken 6 and Tekken Tag 2 engines look awful to your eyes (2 completely different engines built from the ground up after 6 was awful), I can't imagine what you think of the Unreal engine on MK VS DC and Mortal Kombat 9. They are the definition of awful looking, stiff animation, generic graphics. And the new one looks EXACTLY the same at a higher resolution (it is after all running on a modified Unreal 3 engine).

@GriftGFX Being disappointed by the Unreal engine the past 7 years is the wild assumption for me. For example, the only thing that ruined Mass Effect 3 for me was the presentation and capabilities of the unreal 3 engine. Bad implemented loading times and stiff animations that constantly got me killed. Not to mention that awful looking unreal 3 FIRE/FLAMES effect that was even present in Turok in 2008.

@Megido Except developers rarely ever do this, the only time I can recall this is with DICE and Mirror's Edge, one of the only unreal 3 engine games I had to be told what it was. The others are obvious from the first ingame clip. 2013's Flashback game for example was terrible simply down to the fact it was on the Unreal 3 engine (its why I avoided it after the first ingame trailer anyway).

@GunsnSwords "If you don't know what UE4 can do you should seriously look it up; cause they made some serious improvements over the years."
No real games yet mate. Tech demos prove nothing with a TINY portion of a map being rendered by the entire engine with not a lot going on either. They need to show off a MASSIVE open world game with complex animations and physics going on. The only game I can think of that will prove this is Dead Island 2, made by the excellent Yager team. That Fable Legends, for example, shown at E3 2014 was truly awful.

All of this and I'm the biggest Tekken fan anyway :P

That's a bit on the hyperbole side, Andrew. UE4 is certainly not disappointing as you put it. If there is something that disappoints, it's usually the developers fault. Plus I don't think we've actually seen a fully fledged game using UE4 as yet, unless I'm mistaken, but the technical demos were very nice. I know, tech demos, you say. The thing is, I expected those demos to at least test my rig with the feature set the engine was running. It didn't. Everything was butter smooth and looked amazing. I seriously thought it was FMV until I started moving the camera around. I'm confident games will look and play fantastically on it.

Scratching my head at this one. So you're saying (given the trailer has used in-game visuals) looks like a PS2 game? Right. Dead on.

MK9 looked alright not sub HD though. you're forgetting other tiles that produced better results off the same engine, like Mirror's edge or even the latest batman title; which show a strong difference of opinion.

yeah the engine is pretty old but they're putting it to good use. But it's like i said before, UE4 looks nothing like anything from their previous Engines...Nothing.

Fable legends looks like that by art design choice, similar to much like Sunset overdrive which is not even unreal based. The Engine is up to the user's imagination, it supports tessellation, subsurface scattering, Dynamic HBAO, Realist skin shaders, paralax mapping, water physics and dynamics, texture sizes that exceed 4000x4000.

there are tons of users playing around with the engine, and it's all in real time.

Takes a lot of money to invest in programmers who build 3d engines.

You don't know any background deals going on, we really don't know if this is just another way to hype up UE in disguise.

Assumptions of a dev team being shit are very foolish if you played their previous games and know what kind of games they make.

We may also have to read a laundry list of "check list features" being used or displayed.

The Unreal engine 4 can produce CGI results in engine, it has a built in rendering studio, google it. If the consoles can handle the raw high resolution assets the engine can allow; then most of what we'll be seeing should be all in game.

If the console's can't handle extreme assets; you can expect them to use a lot of pre-rendered content to save time porting their finished scripted data, in stead of reworking it to make it run perfect.

Namco Should just make this project PC lead if they know what's best. at least they can take all the PC graphics and save it at 1080p 60 fps if needs be for the consoles. : )

Same, and I agree TTT2 went overboard with the juggles they need to shorten them or remove bound

That's what i really liked about Tekken Revolution. It was sort of back to basics. More focus on the spacing and oki. I mean you are obviously still hunting for that launch, but what you do with the ground game and pokes is just so much more important this time around. Then they ruin it with leveling stats and those retarded goddamn invincible moves.

Then again, i suppose i can always hope that they just go balls out and revamp the entire system. That'd be cool as well.
