Techland's Project Hell has now a final name: Hellraid, set to release later this year on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. Offering single-player campaign and mutliplayer, the game features hack & slash action with melee, ranged and magical weapons, looting, crafting, customization and character development. First screens and press release inside.

Techland Announces Hellraid, First-Person Co-Op Slasher for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3

Techland officially unveils the game formerly known as Project Hell, blending story-driven hack & slash action, shooters and online multiplayer in one hell-raising package.

Techland has formally announced Hellraid, a first-person co-op slasher that offers two games in one: a single-player, story-driven campaign of hack & slash action; and unique, co-operative multiplayer that pits four players against the denizens of hell – and each other – in a battle for points, rewards and fame. The first official screenshots, game details and more are available on Hellraid.com, where you’ll also find the developers blog, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the production of Hellraid.

The armies of Hell brought pain and destruction to the realm of man, and only a select few have the fighting skills necessary to confront the devilish monstrosities. Combining elements of hack & slash RPGs, first-person shooters and online multiplayer games, Hellraid features an advanced, immersive combat system with melee, ranged and magical weapons. The engaging Game Master system makes each game a different experience, placing loot and enemies while generating random online challenges.

With exploration, looting, questing, weapon crafting, boss fights, armor customization, character development, leaderboards, magic and so much more, Hellraid is set to drag you straight to hell later this year on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Those trees need a lot more polys in them. They look like PS2 assets.

Interested since its a fantasy action RPG game.
Since its by the devs of Dead Island i assume melee hit feedback will be very good compared to the Elder Scrolls.

I guess gotta wait for footage.

Just saw your comment now. Sniff it is the Chrome 5 engine then. That confirms it. Pass.

Really need more details and footage to make a decision. On the one hand a Dead Island type game in a fantasy setting would be pretty exciting, especially with the multiplayer/co-op angle. But this paltry offering of info doesn't inspire confidence.

Im still waiting for techland to make a game that is actually good. They get close but never quite hit the mark. Maybe this will be the one?

Even if Techland's games are not perfect. You gotta like that they often try to do what they want.

This definitely has me interested. The indoor visuals look really good, and so do the enemies. I agree that hit detection, feedback, and physics are something they do very well, especially compared to Bethesda. That is one thing I was thinking while playing Dead Island, is I wish that Skyrim had the same kind of physics, damage, and reactions for the melee. Not convinced as of yet, but this has my interest.

It's an announcement, but because it's not a huge blowout, that says something about the quality of the game?
Hopefully this turns out to be a lot better than Dead Island. Those were interesting games but far too flawed to be considered actually good.
At least their tech looks better here.
