Xbox 360 PS3

Namco and Atari released this new trailer of Tekken 6, showing quite a few of the characters in action. I guess we can say now that visually this game isn't very impressive, but hopefully the gameplay will be good.

Why won't Heihachi die???!!!!

He's so damned old now it's beyond the joke. I'm all for equal opportunities but for God's sake.

Tekken 6 - sponsored by Werthers Originals...

I'm so tired of these endless fucking sequels, time for a new IP.

damn, I wish fighting games would evolve somewhat...I got tired of tekken 5 or 6 years ago...

Graphically the game isn't as impressive as it should be either...I mean the scale is small, but the characters in games such as crysis, metal gear and FFXIII look much better...

...I used to be a huge fan as well...

Catfish: You used to be a huge fan yet you bitch about things like this? Huge fan my ass :) And suggesting that nothing has changed between T6BR and Tekken 4 is just ridiculous. Sure the graphics aren't the same caliber as the powerhouse performance of Tekken 5 but it still looks alright and, as everybody should know by now, what's important in a fighter is gameplay. I'm willing to bet that T6 will play pretty good, especially seeing as how we get BR directly.

The game doesn't seem so different "graphics-wise" from SC4 or other fighting game in motion, but the screens make the game look horrible.

Jesus: yeah it looks a lot better in motion but i somehow can't shake that sort of last-gen-ish feel from teh visuals either. Not that it matters that much for me though, as i'm convinced it'll play great and the graphics are satisfactory.

I know what you mean; the dodgy geometry, low poly counts on the characters(which after seeing games like Fight Night 3 is unforgivable in a fighting game), Frame-Buffer motion-blur rather than per-pixel. After SC4 it does seem like a step back. Even VF5 looks better than this!

Fingers crossed for the gameplay...

Don't think you'll have to keep your fingers crossed much, the game has been out forever and ever in the arcades and has been balanced and fixed a lot and seeing as how we get Bloodline Rebellion directly it should be even more tweaked and fixed. The big differences in T6BR are bounce and rage. A lot of new combo possibilities are added due to new bounce attacks and there's also the rage feature where a player with low hp does extra damage.

As for the graphics i think you are exaggerating a bit. You also have to remember that the game is not seing it's first release this fall, it's been out since 2007.

Ah, so like a 'Cornered Rat' mode! Sounds good.

Whilst the game has been out since 2007, I see no harm in giving it an upgrade, otherwise it just feels like a cash-cow job. Anyway, I thought exaggeration was a staple for this site...

;o)

They added the motion blur to BR, but i can also understand why they wouldn't rework the graphics just for a console release. And how is releasing a game a "cash-cow job"? Streetfighter 2, now that's a cash cow milked beyond dry. BR is only available in arcades right now and will be released for consoles, don't see how that's bad in any way :P

VF5 still looks a whole lot better than most next-gen fighting games. VF5 > all Dead or Alive games combined.

And I'll always wonder.. would Tekken 6 have looked better if it had remained a PS3 exclusive? More time and effort would've gone into making the PS3 version better, rather than creating a 360 port. And no, I'm not a fanboy. I own both consoles and will probably buy the 360 version as my PS3's kaputt.

hahahaha, I mastered every single combo for every single character in Tekken 3 when it came out...played tekken in the arcade when it came out...since then there has been small tweeks...but I want a full 3d fighter with real time damage, full environmental interaction and dynamic interaction...I said I used to be a huge fan, it was my fave series on consoles behind ff...I am not really a fan anymore...the story, which was initially entertaining got crap as well....

Well, playing it a little in the arcade and learning a few 10-hit combos isn't exactly mastering the game you know :P

You guys don't know anything about fighting games if you're concerned so much with graphics. There are many people out there who still enjoy the hell out of 2D fighters

That said, this trailer looks amazing. Gets me pretty excited for the game.

Don't quite get why the graphics aren't as good as SCIV, especially with SCIV coming out earlier than Tekken 6. Don't they share coding tips in house at NamcoBandai?

Jackdoe: uhm, no SC4 didn't come out before tekken 6. Tekken 6 released, in arcades, about one year before SC4 came out. What we get to play on our consoles this fall is a port of a 2007 arcade game, is that unclear in any way?

Wow, forgot that it released in arcades THAT early. How the hell does an arcade port take two years?

Probably got delayed a few times for some reason and then i guess they figured they might as well just release BR directly and so that delayed it further.

Brilliant rebuttal.

I kind of get the feeling that your the kind of guy that learns the 10-hit combo(s), thinks your the king of the world, then whines like a bitch when you die because someone spams low or pokes a lot (oh how much whining i've heard in SC4 from people that don't understand that you can actually use your brain rather than dish out long combo strings). I've seen a lot of that. I mean really, if you understood what a fighter is all about you wouldn't get bored with it as long as you had good competition...hell i've been playing tekken 5 since release and i still enjoy it a lot. Same thing with VF4/5.

I take it that you mean every single move in the moves list when you say "every single combo with every single character".

I`ve never liked the Tekken series to be honest. I always found the strange taste in character design somewhat off putting. Plus, you push the punch button and it takes about 3 minutes for the character to respond.

I know that there are fans out there and I`m not trying to start a flame-war here either, but I just prefer the beat-em-ups such as SF2 that allow a nearly `instant` button-to-character response on screen.

Like `2PintsOfInsulin` said earlier, a new I.P is needed.

I agree, I've always felt the Tekken serious was 'slow responding'.
I've been a Virtua Fighter man myself and am now hoping to get into SF4 (as latest VF was a bit disappointing).

Also this game looks a bit bad graphically, not that that measures to anything in my judgement but it's something I took notice of.

Anyway, I hope at least the fans enjoy it which I'm sure there are many of.

They vastly improved Soul Calibur's graphics from the arcade version when they released it on the Dreamcast so why shouldn't we expect the same for such a high profile release as Tekken 6? Besides, it should have looked better in the arcades in the first place. Not that I care much about the game though since the only decent Tekken I've played was Tekken 2 and even then VF2 wiped the floor with it. Hopefully there'll be a demo of this though.

Frosty: well not having a 3 frame jab sort of makes the game a little more interesting if you ask me, though compared to SF2 turbo it is indeed slow. But they aren't even comparable in any sense. Once you get in to it though, it's lightning fast. Try pulling off a few ewgf in a row ;)

Corelliantouge: well that's the one exception i guess. But why? Well if i developed a game for an arcade machine i would probably make it and be done with it, if i then were to port it i'd probably do just that, port it. I'd make it as close to the arcade version as possible so that nothing gets broken. My point being that they shouldn't change anything that isn't also changed in the arcade version. As for how the arcade game looks i don't know why it's not prettier than it is but like i've said earlier, as long as it plays well i'll be happy. If you seriously think Tekken 2 is better than Tekken 5 DR you should probably just stop playing fighters all together.
