Namco-Bandai also sent us this new trailer of Test Drive Unlimited 2, showing a game that looks very nice in terms of content but also showing some not too reassuring cars physics.
Yea, the physics... or should I say, lack of... is pretty obvious. I hope this gets fixed before release. Not sure why you would release a video demonstrating a racing game without physics. :)
LOL at this trailer. on the announce interviews/trailers they say "oh yes we saw the flaws in the first one"......evidently not, looks like someone stuck a pin through the centre of the car and just spun it to make it look like the car is turning. i hope to god they change this.
In a way i like how they focus on things not just to do with the racing, by all means do it, but get the physics/racing sorted first BEFORE thinking what bloody outfits to wear
Yeah, the trailer was hilarious... no, bad is what I mean, actually. Although Ibiza is well known for being a party island the whole "life style" seems so forced, it looks out of place.
Then there is the physics. It really looks bad. I don't mean "lol arcade", I mean they don't look fun at all. Why can the cars turn on a dime?

I'm VERY much looking forward to this game, considering i spent more time with TDU1 than i did with any other racing game, or any other game, period.
The physics has always been the weak point of this franchize (all 1 games lol), but they were managable. At least they werent as shitty as in NFS.
Given how well everything else was done in TDU1, i could accept it.
And i still absolutely loved the game, just cruising around an open island with your ingame-stereo playing your own music without faffin around with the dashboard, and occationally bumping into real players and cruising alongside them...
Priceless. As long as TDU2 has the same feeling, i couldnt care less if they didnt improve the physics.
I mean i'm usually the first guy to whine about shitty physics, but i cant do that here even if its the truth.

Yeah I agree with Baleur. TDU 1 was great, very ambitious. No game had/has been that close to the freedom of the first TDU. As a car fan, I loved going around that huge island finding new car stands and garages. It had a great selection of cars(modern supercars and classics), the physics of the cars were better than average bun fun to play(the bikes were rubbish though LOL). Great graphics for a game that big(2006 game).
I really believe Atari did a great job and I played the game for hundreds of hours.
Having said that, I do think this trailer is fucking awful. Looks a lot more like the Sims: Car edition than a sequel for TDU. It looked like the physics are going to suck, the lack of REAL off-road vehicles and not some posh Audi Q7 getting dirty is just wasted resources to me.
I don't know what'll come out of this, but seeing this trailer I guess TDU 2 just went from "MUST-BUY DAY ONE" to "meh let me see what comes out of this game and then think hard about buying it".
Looks alright to me. The whole party lifestyle thing is a little annoying, but it's not the core of the game. The island looks like a relaxing place to drive and the cars look great. The physics aren't gonna be perfect, we all knew that anyway, but bad? Not so much. It's clear they want to sacrifice a bit of realism for the sake of being able to drift and pull off some fancy moves.
Oh, and America's never made a car that can turn corners, to people in the US it probably looks twice as ridiculous as it really is =P
well i certainly enjoyed that trailer, started off poorly but I really enjoyed the music, the driving didn't look anywhere near as bad as people above were claiming, looked like I could happily chill out and cruise in this game, sure the driving doesn't look phenomenal but it looks playable and fun.
Its a very very light rpg racing game, to bad the rpg is in the player characters not the cars. until now its how i feared it would be... no customization for the cars. again... no, paintjob doesnt count.
