While capturing a new video of Otogi 2 earlier this afternoon I have decided to use it as a test for the Xvid format I always wanted to use here instead of WMV. Using that new format makes me win quite a lot of time for each video I encode and allows me to use some other very powerful deinterlacing filters I could not use otherwise. So if possible I'd like you to download both versions of the video and post your comments here. If you do not have the bandwidth to do so, then at least download it once because it's a very impressive video !
Registration free link to the normal quality video : http://media.xboxyde.com/free_vids/otogi2_wow_nq.wmv
You'll find the link to the latest version of the Xvid Codec directly on the video download page.
If you are too lazy to registrer, you can also get the SHQ video via bittorrent here

At the moment I prefer the WMV format.
If it's not too much to ask, could you give it a try with Media Player Classic ?

You should get the same result, if that's so please right click on the video and go to the filters menu. You should get the list of the filters used to render the file. Besides audio and video renderer, what do you get ?
Thanks in advance.
The player uses the XviD MPEG-4 Video Decoder.
Can you give this codec a try :
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/ffdshow/ffdshow...
While installing it should ask you which codec it installs on, just make sure only xvid is checked since divx3/4/5 is handled by the official codec.
ffdshow works fine here for my videos, so maybe it would be the best way to play them.
Thank you BlimBlim.
Thanks for your help !
