PS3

Here is a gameplay video of Metal Gear Online which could look terrible by just watching the game, but I'm sure that the game has the potential of being less bland than we think.

not sure what pipo's commentary means, but here's my take.

the animations, like all other MGS games looks stupidly stiff. At this point in the franchise i think it's safe to say thats a style choice and not the developers fault.

I can't tell if the person playing it sucks or if the controls are just really jumpy. I hope its the former.

The graphics look great from what i can tell

The "linking" aspect of the game seems pretty cool.

the shooting looks bad.

i've seen better shooters...

I think his comment is pretty straight forward. He thinks the gameplay looks bland, but that could just be the people playing it.

Looks awesome for sure.

Reminds me of GRAW but very Metal Gear like, which is what I prefer.

Hopefully this game comes like a "Subsistance" version of MGS4. Don't want to shell out more money.

Looks promising. You can see the failings of the PS3 pad yet again though. Those horrendous deadzones really make aiming in a TPS/FPS shooter difficult... it's most obvious with the sniper, but you can see it in the other views too. It's that that kills Warhawk for me to an extent - it's just something that's not obvious on the 360 and there's really no excuse for it. The Dual Shock 3 was an opportunity to rectify this, but apparently not. I wonder if someone will make an adaptor that lets you use a 360 pad on the PS3? Same number of buttons. Same locations. No reason why not.

Sath, no - the PS3 analogue sticks have an appaulling deadzone. You can move them a good 1/4 of an ich before anything happens. It frustrates me no end. With the Xbox, there's obviously a deadzone too, but it's much smaller, meaning that more or less as soon as you move the stick you get a response by the game. It makes it so much harder to finess the controls when aiming with the PS3 - I always find I'm kinda nudging the sights in little jumps, whereas on the 360 it can be a very slight, accurate movement. It's a common complaint, except from folk who've never used anything else and thus don't know any better.

360 has alot of FPS games so its vital the analogue controls work extremely well.
As for this game, good job its coming bundled with MGS4 as people would be stupid to buy this as a standalone product.

I almost fell of my chair laughing as I saw the running animation and then the attempt to snipe someone: left right left right....

wow to the commentary on the vid from Pipomantis, just wow 0.0 .MGO is basically subsistence upgraded. So question is : was subsistence bland?
I definitely don't think so. It was one of the greatest games online for PS2
To ppl saying something about animation, just look at some other games in the past and even present, that have such horrible animation, by saying something about MGO is complete crime.

Zerolight.

Aha...got it.
But when it comes to controls for me it depends. If it is 3rd person action game or stealth or whatever, I prefer the PS3 controller.

But for FPS games, I am both on that one. I had no problem with Resistance, or even Warhawk for the aiming. I even love the analog sensitivity for Heavenly Sword when you gotta aim stuff.

But I guess its a personal experience of what control fits you know, especially when you got a 360 and a PS3 and the game is multiplatform.

To be honest, I prefer the Ps3 controller, because its small and all the buttons just feels right.

Like everytime when I try to hold the 360 controller after couple of minutes of holding the PS3 one, it feels like I am holding a Dreamcast controller :P

But in couple of minutes my hands and mind starts to adjust to its form again.

Anyway, its best to goback to MGO and not go off topic.

the game doesnt appeal to me personally, its far too slow paced. it clearly was a concious decision on the developers part. and one that appeals more to the japanese market (they dont like super fast paced shooters) but for me personally it's not by bag baby. when i think of MGS, a great online experience isnt something that springs to mind, an awesome single player experience does. and thats the main bulk of a MGS game. online, much like a lot of recent 360 titles have online as an afterthought (stranglehold, darkness etc etc) and i think this is the same. that doesnt mean it'll be bad, but it wont be particularly amazing either.
