Xbox 360

It's been hinted before, but now it's official: The excellent Rez is finally coming to XBLA. And it's a great news.

Best part of Rez is it'll look better in HD than a lot of other ports, no filtering to smudge up classic sprites, not many low resolution textures to update or ignore...

So Q entertainment is making another XBLA game. Here's what you can expect

1. No proper version for the console, it will be "complete" via downloadable content.
2. You'll have to wait a few months until it is complete.

I don't trust Q as far as I can throw them, which is 0 feet.

I've heard of this game before but still don't get the concept:

It's like panzer dragoon Orta, an "on rails shooter" but after that my knowledge of this game ends....

It is a LOT like the Panzer Dragoon games. Of course this is styled differently.

I owned the PS2 version a while ago, it's a cool game, but the XBLA prices will be more in line with what most people will get out of the game, I think.

he was refering to lumines live and the terrible way which it ended up costing more than a retail game to get all the features.

Yea, I was aware of that, but this is :

1. A old, finished game, being ported
2. A short game
3. A linear game

Unless they're adding levels to the game, it will be impossible to split up the content, and if they're adding levels I WOULD pay extra...

I know what it is. I meant that another game which existed long before it came out on xbla (lumines) had a horrible being spread over downloadable content. I bet you Rez and Every Extend Extra will be the same way.

I think they do this to recoup the lossess on their failed N3.

it was "impossible" to split up the lumines content as they did, but since it was a "size limit" they used that as an excuse to give people part of the content, and charge for more. They would have done better releasing it retail, it would have sold better than N3.

I really doubt this will happen. What are they going to do? Sell you the first 3 levels for 1.5 hours of gameplay then come back with the last 2 levels?

It's much easier than Panzer Dragoon Orta, and lacks a little of Panzer Dragoons depth, but it's FUN. I will buy this. I love Rez.

Well, Rez is a property of Sega, so I somehow doubt Q is involved here. Sega have been on quite a roll lately on the arcade, so they seem to have a pretty well gelled relationshipo with Microsoft - one assumes anyway.

I've played this game consistently for the 6-ish years it's been out, so I'm not quite as thrilled as I could be about this. It is, however, a fantastic experience and points to an era when both Mizuguchi and Sega made nothing but exceptional games. I reviewed it here in fact.

This is/was one of my favorite titles for the Dreamcast. I'm so happy it's coming to XBLA. I don't exactly recall how the soundfx & music worked together but it would be cool you could use your own tracks in this one.

I want this and Ikaruga right now!

Rez on the dreamcast defies all words, it simply is one of the best games on that console.
Saying it's an on rails shooter is offensive.. saying it is short is also missing the point. It is simply one of the most playabale games ever made. the whole realtime music thing is genius.
I don't buy XBLA games, but this for me is essential.
What next from them on XBLA? Ikaruga? pleaseeee!

This is great news. I just hope they could push the 360 as REZ pushed the DC in its original graphical style. From these shots it doesnt seem like they're pushing it though, more like a direct HD port of the original.

Rez COULD be the "scene demo" of modern days.

the reason they did that is because at the time lumines was too big for XBLA's "50 MB limit", so microsoft had them break into parts to be DL'ed foe a fee. which didnt turn out so good, doubt they will do it again now that the size is 150mb.
