Surprise! A new build of Gran Turismo 5 is playable on the TGS showfloor. This first video shows some old and fun cars driving in the rain, and while it's way too dark you guys should still be able to enjoy it. More to come, in better quality!
Update 2: Added a replay video of a quite amazing race.

The rain effects look awesome, but why isn't the car wet on the inside(maybe it is, I just can't see it because of video quality) ?

And I guess the rain doesn't affect the driving(at least that's what it seems).

ahah the car is too slow. With such cars the track should be very slippery otherwise it gets boring fast. They said weather effects and day/night cycle will be on few tracks last month ?

Unfortunately U can't choose weather effects on specific tracks and the Eiger track is the only track with rain. Sorry! :(

Why is rain slippery like ice? A AWD WRX is having problems going 40 kph in rain. GTFO. Not real at all.

As a total non fan of GT5 (will it ever come out?), i got to admit the rain in the cockpit view blew me away. That looks gooooooooooooood :)

It does affect the driving since it does affect the road surface. Here's what Kazunori said during the break-our session:

-Weather changes include temperature differences, air pressure changes, and humidity, affecting the surface conditions of the track dynamically.

-Weather conditions are randomized. Forecasts for your race will be available but may not be entirely accurate, just like the real world.

And of course, the choice of tires and the use of driving assists ie. Traction Control and Stability Control will make driving in wet/slippery road a little easier.

Looks and feels great from the cockpit view. However I don't get why developers continue to reward players for using exterior cams. I hope they include the option to lock camera positions for multiplayer races for a fair experience.

super impressive, reminds me of the good old days of colin mcrae before the only road type was dust and the only weather type was bone dry. amazing. love it when the rally car comes out of the tunnel and is blasted by rain.

just hope weather is avaliable in all tracks, or most tracks where it makes sense. if it's just a single track with rain and a single track with snow, it'll be pretty dissapointing, even if it does look beyond awesome.
