Trailer PS3

Namco Bandai's f2p fighting game Soul Calibur: Lost Swords shows new footage where you can see colored weapons as the game features elemental-based fighting mechanics, Wind and Fire can be imbued into weapons for exemple. It's also described as a "highly customizable solo gameplay fighting experience", so no multiplayer in there. It will be available by Winter on PS3.

This is a major bummer. I love Soul Calibur V.

'Lost Swords' as in 'Lost characters' ? WTH ? As if SC 4.5 (SCV) wasn't enough already, now they're making a SC 4.75 follow up ? Don't get me wrong, there is no 'bad' SC (exception being the crippled DC 'remake' for 360) but that must be Namco's lamest effort yet.

What a huge fucking waste of resources. Rather than work on SC6 they make a single player fighting game. A SINGLE PLAYER FIGHTING GAME. That has to be a first.

Calling Soul Calibur V "4.5" is ridiculous. Ridiculous. It's the biggest shake-up in the franchise from one "number" to another. From the cast to the core systems, it's a completely different game.

A hugely underrated/underplayed game! Shame!

SP is piss poor compared to 1 and 2 (never played 3 btw), so yea, i can understand ratings, although they improved on the core components. And gfx-wise they got stuck at IV too (-> hence 4.5, although i wonder if those could possibly be improved any further).

This is really disappointing. I'd actually gladly take a "5.5" with an expanded roster. Even if it were just rehashed assets from 4.

SCV + some classic characters is pretty much all I needed :D

I'll take SC2 and skip Lost Swords (IF they keep weopon master mode of course). Shouldn't be THAT hard to avoid since it's PS3 only LOL (only have the 360)

So SCV was crap but you'll gladly buy a re-release of SC2? Then whine about SCV being to close to previous games? (though i'd agree with grift that that is complete and utter BS). You do realize that the message you are sending to Namco is that you indeed just want more of the same, right?

Anyway, this just seems like their way of correcting the lack of a meaty single player campaign in SCIV and V. Not that it was needed, they were still solid games by any measure.
