2K Games has released some new images from Swedish Starbreeze's The Darkness, looking as cool as ever. There's no reason to have anything but high expectations on a game from these guys, and it's reassuring to see that you already can see the similarities with Riddick by just looking at the graphics style.

This game does look amazing. I didn't know anything about it until a few days ago. Now though it seems the 360 has so many great games in the future.

Loved Riddick on the Xbox so if this is from the exact same people then i won't mind giving it a shot, because Riddick was teh awesomeness, hope they also do another game starring Riddick though in the future.

They had a video trailer for this, ingame engine, at last years E3. Looked ace in motion, though it was just a teaser. I contacted the head of Starbreeze but he wouldn't spill any info, just said to wait until E3. Apparently it's set in a big open city, ala GTA? The "Darkness" powers open up a load of options for gameplay, it'll be VERY interesting to see how this comes together. They're also promising multiplayer support.

awesome game. This is actually my next buy game. So I wont buy any other game until june. The games that are coming out in these 2 months are boring as hell for me.

I'm actually a bit disappointed with this game. Judging from the trailer from E3 last year I thought we were going to play as one of the creatures or even the man at the end of the trailer. I'm sure it will still be a fine game though. Starbreeze knows what they're doing.

We are playing as the guy at the end of the trailer and you summon the creatures using the powers of the Darkness, but they are destroyed by sunlight.

The graphics look amazing, I hope it really does looks this good when its finished. I loved Chronicles of Riddick like a few other people here so am quietly confident it will have good gameplay. Also I think this is based on a comic book character or story.

Hopefully now people can see most of the shortcomings of the earlier games wasn't exactly the fault of the console. Its all about the developer.

They most likely running a multi-threaded game engine or maybe they aren't we'll have to see, but I'm guessing they are.

I'll give you guys some info on the character since I used to read the comic in my teens. Basically Jackie Estacado is this suave mobster type at the top of his game, girls money, everything. Then he inherits the Darkness, a power that has been in his bloodline for centuries.

Remember I mentioned women, well Jackie cannot have sex because if he does and produces a child the Darkness will kill him and move to his next of kin until he/she is ready.

The Darkness was also hunted by a group of Angels (forgot the name) and if my memory serves me well the Witchblade (another comic series by TopCow) hunts him as well.

This is actually the Chronicles Of Riddick engine running at full power, they created it with next-gen in mind and "underclocked" it for Chronicles on the XBox and PC

I think they just improved it from the last engine.... abit like how ID updates their engine....

If you look at some of the first few shots posted, you can see you are that guy. You've got your regular guns, and your tentacles of hell stabbing people, flipping over police cars, etc.
