Trailer PC PS4 Xbox 360 PS3

Known as project Zwei, Bethesda and Shinji Mikami's survival horror game has now an official title: The Evil Within. We can finally share with you the live action trailer that sets the tone of the game. The game is using id Tech 5 and is set to release in 2014 on Xbox 360, PS3, PC and next-gen consoles.

such a pointless trailer. was massively dissapointed with this reveal on friday. i'm hoping ign's coverage today get's me excited. i hear they have gameplay to show?

At least this time they aim for less Rambo-style game (no machine guns and other heavy weapons), limited ammo...although i must see this in action to believe.

From German preview:

- Highly reduced HUD; there are almost no interface elements
- Ring menu for weapons and inventory
- Quick item selection on the D-Pad
- Medipacks
- You'll encounter a man with a chainsaw and dozens of angry enemies at the beginning, just like in RE4 - but it plays differently due the set of options like being able to set traps etc.
- One trap is a mine full of nails
- There isn't much music which is why the game feels even more terrifying

Also no multiplayer - sweet!
Art Director is Naoki Katakai (Resident Evil Remake, Okami, Vanquish). :D

Am I the only one who saw the screenshots?!

It looks like Resident Hill. The view is very Resident Evil 4/5 (and I guess 6), with the art looking very Silent Hill 5/6. There's probably some SAW thrown in there from the looks of the teaser, but it looks very conventional.

That said, I welcome a TRUE survival horror, not action-horror-gorefests. If I want a bunch of shooting and constant bombardment of badguys, I'll play Gears. I want a return to form.

From listening to the video, it looks like they are returning to the old ways, you know, the good old fashioned game design that was actually challenging and forced you to actually play the fucking game, instead of the game playing you, but anyway, I digress: I'm interested in this. Hopefully, if it's any good, it'll sell shitloads and it'll be like a boot up the balls for most developers (hello Capcom, yes, I'm looking at you) to go back to old school ways of designing games, especially survival horror.

they wont do it, they want more people to play so they get more sales. so it will be ACTION SURVIVAL they will continue to make, same goes for EA they had brilliant survival horror dead space, and turned that IP to shit, for few more sales

You mean awesome ACTION with horror elements. You have a lot of guns and ammo all the time, like RE4. :))

coming from die hard fan of RE1 to 3, and outbreak series,fatal frame series, re4 was shit to me, i do hope its not following in re4 footpath but different route, maybe silent hill style or siren, it don't need to be crappy Hollywood action film
