Xbox 360

Released a few days ago around the world, Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter is now on Xboxyde for its "10 first minutes" video. Available in standard resolution and, get used to it, in 720p, the video presents the tutorial mission. It's actually very interesting to see because it shows how the gameplay mechanics of the game work. And for those who were worried about playing a complex tactical game, you can be reassured, GRAW has been made for a broad audience, and is quite simple and natural to handle.

[IN MY OPINION]

Because that's what GRAW is: a mass-market AAA game. But even if the game is totally linear and scripted, what Ubi has achieved in terms of immersion is something you may have never seen before. In that, GRAW is a truly next-gen experience. And, needless to say, a brilliant success.

I'll be frank with you. Most of the game's well known features are nothing more than eye catchers. The crosscom, if sometimes usefull, is far from being as crucial as Ubi wanted us to believe. Same thing for the drones, that you only use when the game decides you have to. Needless to say, they're pretty anecdotic. In the other hand, the squad gestion can be a real help in some situations, and is totally justified in this context of cover-based gameplay. But once again, we would've appreciated more depth in the order system. "Go there", "Come back", "Frag this", "destroy that", and that's all. Nevertheless, my point is not to badmouth the game, because all these gadgets, if gadgets they actually are, contribute strongly in the actual feeling of being in the boots of an advanced warfighter. And when the feeling is as strong it is in the game, you can forget about the couple of serious flaws it encounters, as the whole AI (ennemies but also team mates, sadly). The devteam obviously focused on the visual aspects of the game. From the graphics to the animations and sound design, every detail of the game is polished to the edge. It's true AAA quality we're dealing with, and that's a fact.

So, it becomes quickly evident that GRAW has no other ambition than offering an accessible, immersive and spectacular experience. Nothing more, nothing less. And from this point of view, it totally rocks. The game is quite short, but the ingame scenario is gorgeous, with missions that oftenly lengths more than half-an-hour., without any break of rythm. And, most importantly, the immersion is complete. In other words, GRAW is, in every point, exactly what we were expecting of a next-gen AAA blocbuster. Mission accomplished, gentlemen.

[THE VIDEOS]

To discover the integral first ten minutes of the game (wich includes the tutorial mission, a helicopter ride and a few seconds of the first mission), get the 640*360 video. Concerning the HD video, because the 720p format is extremely heavy, we had to only keep the most interesting parts of the initial video. Have a nice watch !

GRAW definitely pulls the series back in the direction of the original a little more with the use of the UAV (and other assets) and tactical map but it seems to be even easier to use than Ghost Recon 2/Summit Strike.

This is the X360's first real must have shooter..and I think it will bring in a lot of new fans (including myself) to the GR series..it's just realy good stuff all around--the sp campaign is the best I've played in quite some time..the mp is also pretty apealing, though a little different.

Not perfect, but damn good.

Well, I just downladed the GRAW video (and I have the game already) and it's almost five minutes and somehow they managed to get the file to be only about 20MB larger than N3's. So I guess they can get up to 5 minutes of footage with an acceptable file size. So yeah, probably "The first ten minutes" could be done on 720, I'd think dividing the 10 minutes into two files would be a great idea.

So, Blim.......

Single shot is perfect for when you're moving slowly and picking unaware guys off at a distance, then switch up to Auto if and when you get into a firefight.

full auto isn't better than single shot,

single shot alows for quick and accurate shots and is much better in most situations...

Okay, but i finished the game in 2 days, basically all mission expect the last on the first day,and i played with full auto,i dont say its the "best way" but for me it worked way way way better tehn with single shot.
even on distance it worked great.
But mayby its about preference :P
