Because of Gamescom, we kind of missed the release of Kane & Lynch: Dog Days. Better late than never, here is finally the first ten minutes of the game. IO Interactive's new title did not receive a warm welcome in the press, but to me its main issue is that you do not need more than four to five hours to complete the single player campaign. Add to that the absence of a final cutscene in the end (it feels like being back in the eighties when your only reward was a congratulation message) and you will easily understand why it did not get a high score in the reviews. In spite of an interesting visual approach and a good atmosphere, the game is indeed disappointment in the end. Not quite as bad as some said, but clearly not worth a full price purchase unfortunately.

I thought the demo was great. I'm sure the story isn't GOTY material, but i know it'll be fun to play through. I'm forever boycotting Eurogamer after they gave this game a 4/10. Being harsh is one thing, but a 4/10 for K&L 2 is just plain wrong. Especially after they gave the first Kane and Lynch a 7/10. Part 2 was a HUGE leap forward in pretty much every way, but somehow it managed to score lower than the first. Go figure...
Really? You're boycotting eurogamer because they gave K&L2 a 4/10?
That's just sad. Haven't you ever heard of an OPINION?
Anyway you haven't even played the game!!! And NO the demo doesn't count.
The demo was decent... but the full game is not fun, it's shallow, frustrating, buggy, and just down right unpleasant to play.
I also think the dev team intended the game to be like this. They don't want people to enjoy it. It's supposed to be short so that people play it in one sitting. Afterwards you'll feel sick and want to throw up...
It's the kind of game I am proud to say I played through, but never again will I play it.

Yes, i am boycotting Eurogamer for this poor review. This isn't the first time i've disagreed with their reviews though. Many times, i'll read through their reviews and be left scratching my head at the final score they give. As in... Their final scores don't reflect their article in many cases. To me, a 4/10 means the game is borderline, or completely broken, and not enjoyable in ANY way. IMO, K&L2 is far from broken and un-enjoyable.
Scoring games this low can really hurt a games sales. Giving K&L 2 a 4 pretty much guarantees that 90% of the people who seen that review won't buy the game. I know i sound like a member of their Dev team or something lol, but that's not the case. I just think this review is completely unfair. If a game deserves a 4, and is broken beyond belief, then a 4 is fair, but again... K&L 2 is far from those things.
I've played this game since my first post and giving this game a 4 is CRIMINAL. I can just pick one of the many good things from the game and it would be enough to score the game higher than a 4 lol. It's got good gunplay, pacing, graphics, main charters, cover system, AI is decent, Multiplayer is decent, etc. That's not even mentioning that they gave the original a 7/10. Really ? The first K&L scored higher even though it was basically worse in every way.
With all of that being said. Would i recommend buying K&L 2 ? No, but does that mean the game sucks ? Nope. Well, not IMO anyway ... This would be a GREAT rental. It's the kind of game that you can rent one afternoon and beat with ease, while feeling satisfied afterwords. I recently bought Mafia 2 and REALLY liked it, but i couldn't recommend buying it because once the story is over there's nothing to do. That certainly doesn't mean the game sucks though.
The Metacritic for K&L 2 is 64, which isn't great, but it's surly more fair than a 4. In my personal opinion, anything less than a 7 for this game is to low. That's just my opinion though...
