The First 10 Minutes of Portal 2

The First 10 Minutes of Portal 2

Needless to say that the release of Portal 2 was highly anticipated. When Valve launches a game, it is always a big deal for the fans, so when it's the sequel of such a fantastic game as Portal, we have every reason to be impatient. Gamersyde could not miss the opportunity to show you some videos of the game, even if for that we had to go buy our own copy at the store. Since we are smart, we chose the PS3 version to get the PC version for free (great idea Valve!). So, to begin with, here are the first 10 minutes of the PC version in full HD (1080p) and 60 fps. More videos will come, including extracts from the PS3 version. Stay tuned and until then, enjoy all the game's humor in this first video!
Update 3: Third part of the first 10 minutes of the PC version now up.

The First 10 Minutes 1080p (PC)

The level of polish in this game isn't even funny, seriously!! Absolutely amazing game!! Loving it as much as the first time I played Portal 1. GOTY for sure :)

How long is the sp campaign?

I am not sure if I really can use the coop-part, since I think I have no one in my friends-list to play with. I am scared that I only have the chance to play with 'spoilers'.

Just bought the Orange Box yesterday, to finally play Portal. (and HL2)

Waaay too early to call GOTY on this one. Don't forget about the many other contenders.

But yeah, loved this game. The ending was SO satisfying as well. Plus the end song was great, too :P really didn't want this to end. The SP campaign took me ~5 hours or a bit less. Now although that sounds very short it was a great experience and I highly recommend it :)

SP campaign took me at least 10-12 hours exploring everything incl. getting the achievements. It's huge and a lot bigger than Portal 1 campaign.
MP is great, just started yesterday. It's a lot of fun to do together with a friend.

best regards,
ScarJack

The SP took me around 6 hours, found all the easter eggs in that time too :) Although fairly short, the co-op increases the replayability a lot. To anyone on the fence about this game, I really recommend buying it!

my online friends dont play these types of games, i dont know why they dont even give these games a chance (i guess its because its not a sport game or a military shooter, sgh) they are not open to trying different types of games, that said i'll probably rent this because i wont have anyone to co-op with, sucks :(

It's a lot longer than 5-6 hours if you play without a guide or any help. Took me 3 days to beat the game and I must've played at least 3 hours a day, it's so damn addictive. Fell in love with GlaDOS all over again

I have played and finished Portal 1 two days ago. Now I started playing Portal 2, and the puzzles seem much easier. probably because I just finished the first and know the tricks a little too well.

This game kicks so much ass. I've never seen better voice actors or comedians (lol) in a game like Portal 2. The new character has to be my new favorite.

What console are you on? More often than not you could probably get someone from here to co-op with you.

thanks Driftwood. but man what shocked me the most was that there was a Mac version, damn finally the Mac gets game support from somebody releasing the game in the first days.

I'm enjoying this game but the Source engine really has to go. It's so primitive - still no specular or light source relative normal mapping. Everything is modelled straight to low-res too. It's super low end, and an engine very much of the last generation. Compared to another ageing engine - Unreal 3, the Source engine is basic in the extreme, and when compared to the likes of CryEngine... it's just hilarious.

Valve should just license another engine and put Source out to pasture.

You can blow through it in 6 hours easily if you're trying. The game isn't difficult at all.

But I thought it was plenty long enough. It's a fucking fantastic game.

Valve doesn't need to license another engine. I assure you that they can build a new one. They're smart. They built a platform capable of lasting nearly a decade, and it's done so brilliantly.

Portal 2 didn't need CryEngine graphics... and when you compare it to something like HL2 or CSS, you can clearly see how far they've managed to push it.

Valve will release another engine.. in time.

Guess you're not very good at puzzles then :P I did it without any help what so ever in under 6 hours, was VEEERYY good though. Tempted to play through again, it was such a good SP.

I watched a buddy play almost all of it the night after finishing it and was shocked by how entertaining it was just to watch the campaign again that shortly after having completed it. I'm definitely going through the dev commentary soon.

Anyone else noticed how the rear channels are too loud in this game? (PS3 version) They're distractingly loud, and there's no way to lower their levels.

Also, the crazy field of view is very distracting too. It's near fish eye in it's intensity.

Getting this for PC, the first one was ok, but lacked more elements. This time it seems they've added more experimental use of gadgets and put them to good use. Lets hope this time there IS cake! ;)

I'm not going to watch this but I know it's going to be awesome!!

It would be awesome if there was a streamlined user creation tool for consoles.

Finished it last night, was absolutely blown away! The stuff they are doing visually in this game is stunning. The art team at Valve are the best! The design of the entire game is amazing, and the puzzles were so much fun. Highly recommend it to EVERYONE!!! :D

Game of the Year for me, too much awesome in that single player :)

for the people who own the game : Didn't you fear you'll get stuck halfway what would make the game short and frustrating? I mean that a puzzlegame is only fun as long as you don't get stuck right?
