The demo of Tony Hawk Project 8 is finally available on the Marketplace since a few hours. As an (ex)fan of that series, I always try the new episode hoping to find what made Tony Hawk 2 and 3 such awesome games (imho of course), and so far I always found the series was getting worse and worse. And with this demo, surprise! The new trick system and the new graphics engine give me the impression that finally Neversoft got back what made their games shine. I think I've enjoyed this very limited demo more already than the last 3 episodes on the series combined. Can't wait for the final game, hopefully they will have fixed the small issues remaining, especially the framerate not always very smooth, and the buggy ragdolls.
Update: 720p version available.

best tony hawk!
When will Neversoft get off it's lazy ass and actually start innovating on the gameplay, instead of doing the same old rehashed stuff.
Things that bother me the most:
1) the collision detection sucks
2) the animations can be very jarring, there is no ragdoll physics, the game feels very poor when it comes to animation, especially when you crash
3) physics?! where are you? I guess in the world of Tony Hawk you live on the moon, when will a skate game actually require you to have momentum or to keep momentum when moving uphill?
I won't be touching Project 8 with a 10 foot pole, what a disappointment.

the last game i have played with pleasure was THPS & THPS2.
the graphics (THAW on X360 sucks) and movement animations are realy cool.
i don't like the ragdoll bail animation.
i realy like the demo, and it looks like it can be successor of my two first favourite games in THPS series. gameplay is like a little bit slower and smoother than in previous games.i didn't expect that, but i'm waiting for this game.
Stop whining about physics already.. when bailing can't you see the movements are really random? The 'stand-up-animations' are scripted, but the bails aren't. And can't you see some of the garbage lying around.
warning to the dumb ¡d¡ots: this an older build

The fact is that this game hasn't really improved in a VERY long time, why bother when you have the same sheep buying it I guess. I myself would prefer them to spend time trying to make the game more of a sim than an arcade game set on the moon where gravity works totally different.
What a shame really, Tony Hawk has basically turned into a fighting game on wheels where skill is just a matter of hitting the right fight buttons instead of at least trying to incorporate balance and skill.
Sad that people just don't see that this is the same crap rehashed, I feel sorry for you guys.
Great demo - good controls, awesome Nail the Trick mode (or whatever it's called), good 60 fps framerate, no v-sync tearing and nice visuals... promises to be the best Tony Hawk game in a long time so I'm really looking forward to this. Playing the demo left me itching to play the full game...
