After being in development for quite some time now, Silicon Knight's Too Human is finished and released on Xbox 360. Here are the First 10 Minutes in video form, starting at the same place where the demo ended. The game was massively hyped and talked-about, and the backlash created after the reviews hit was a strange thing to see. All in all though, Too Human is to me still a decent action game with some flaws.
The combat surprised me, since it is much more simple than it looked - you aim towards an enemy with the right stick, and Baldur, the main character, move to him and does the rest. You can't change the camera position because of this control scheme, so you sometimes find yourselves in a position where you can't see the enemies, or even yourself. Using the guns becomes a problem with this too, since you can't freely aim with the right stick.
The melee combat feels pretty good after a while when you get used to it. Better weapons also makes it much more enjoyable, since you really get the feel that you do some damage with each thrust. The demo didn't show this very well since you don't have access to as good weapons.
Another strange thing is the fact that when you die, nothing happens - you just get teleported to the same place, with more health and some minor new damage to your weapons, and you can just continue to finish off the enemies. Who by the way have the same health as they had when you fought them the last time. Because of this, there's no need in having a character who can regenerate health.
I'm nowhere close to finishing the game, but even though it has its flaws, I still got some enjoyment out of it. The video below shows, as I mentioned above, the same level as the demo. For those that haven't played the demo, we have a video of it here, enjoy.

Wait for Fable 2, Fallout 3 and Sacred 2 to ease your RPG / hack'n'slash cravings.
if u like diablo or Phantasy Star Online u will love this
I never knew an rpg game could be this bad.
It had all the right ingredients to become one of the best western rpg game.
Such a shame. X(
I've clocked more hours in this than NG2 and DMC4 combined. Which I find quite ironic.
I think PSO is the best comparison. It's just a shame that coop is limited to two players.
The game is far, far from perfect and all the time i'm thinking to myself 'this could be done better' or 'we need a damn sprint button!' but it doesn't make the game any less fun.
Again, if you like things like PSO, then you'll enjoy this. The reviews were overly harsh, and a lot of trolls/fanboys seem to be picking on it a lot, similar to Heavenly Sword or Folklore. So if you're interested.. ignore the hate, and try downloading the demo.
did it in single player just under 15 hours, doing it again in co-op in a couple of days.
I'm up to the World Serpent. The game is awesome, I'm loving every minute and everything. The Ice Forest was a bitch, I bet that wasn't playtested, but always fun co-op. If you want a true blend of action and RPG, this is it. I can't compare it to any other game, because it's so much more than a Diablo/DMC/Phantasy Star/etc. clone, I've never played an RPG with such emphasis on action (usually, you have less than 10 enemies on a screen in other RPGs).
For me, it comes down to this:
If you're looking for a fresh new experience in a console game and can look past the glitches and flaws present in it, you'll probably find yourself having tons of fun with it for many hours on end. If you're looking for perfection in polish however and hate reading manuals/game tips, you'll without doubt find a lot to hate about.

You can tell the reviewers that really didn't get it when they say things like that, and also I believe it was the 1up review that said "all the classes are basically the same" which just brings forth images of the moron dying over and over trying to melee with the commando.
If this really was a mindless hack-n-slash, you'd have no reason to tactically approach the enemy encounters at all, you'd have no reason to use your battle cry/juggle/finisher/ruiner attacks while keeping your combo meter balanced, you'd have no reason to upgrade your skill-trees while leveling up, you'd have no reason to dodge when surrounded by enemies or projectiles, no reason to change your armor and arsenal or upgrade them with runes.
Oddly enough, if I try to play the game like that, I won't stand a chance once I get past the first level and frustration builds up in a matter of seconds.
I'm sure the game is enjoyable to whoever actually enjoys it, but the reviews aren't uniformly pointing into the "mediocre" direction for nothing.
But if this game had a NORMAL control layout, i'd probably buy it and enjoy it like hell.
You know like A for light attack, B for heavy attack, left stick moves, right stick controls the camera.
I really dont understand why devs change something that works.. It makes no sense, i HATE games where i cant control the camera, which is the main reason i hate JRPG's. They are awesome games, but frustrating as hell due to that 1 single tiny pointless design decition..
The only reason they do it is to pretend to be different. But all they end up with is a different crap-game, instead of an amazing clone.
And frankly, i much rather play a great diablo-clone like Titan Quest, than a crappy game that tries something different for NO good gameplay-reason, like Too Human's horrible analogue melee controls.
Or like Space Sieges "lets have no loot, that'll differentiate us!".
A great clone is always a much better game than a poorly made "original" effort.
Its the smallest things that ruin games, never big things.
