Xbox 360 PS3

Ubisoft has been nice enough to send us a preview build of Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas 2, so I of course had to record a video as soon as possible. As you'll easily notice this type of games are about as far as possible from what I like to play so you'll have to survive with this video showing the very beginning of the first level, until someone who actually knows how to aim gets his hands on the game, hopefully tomorrow.
Update: As promised, here is the second part of the video, showing what happens right after the first one. And this time it's the rather brutal Bombstrike handling the pad.
Update 2: Third and last part online, showing the end of the level and the beginning of the next one, showing Last Vegas by day. Quite a change for the nightly version!

It's unfortunate that this game seems substantially worse than Vegas 1 graphically, based on all the footage I've seen of their single player campaigns.

Great Ai. Great graphics. Only thing that looks a bit bad is the aiming. Never liked the aiming in the Rainbow Six games (on the consoles). Too stiff and static, in a way.

Yes, seems less polished than Vegas 1, not bad tho. One thing I noticed is that when he took out that sniper it said something along the lines of "Kill at range +3 points", does that mean there is some kinda RPG like ranking system? Or is it just to unlock weapons?

It's kind of like COD4. For example you can focus on assault, submachine...etc. and the more you use it, the more kills you get more points to unlock new stuff for that "class".

Graphically it is looking very good, but will the graphics on the single player be the same as in multiplayer, or are they gonna keep using downgreaded crap on MP but have great graphics on SP?

I remember one of the devs saying that in this part, the multiplayer graphics will be the same as the SP.
I for one couldnt bare looking at the MP.

But I don't know though this seems like a expansion rather a new title, like GRAW>GRAW 2.

Sorry for double post (time went out for edit)

I checked some screenshots and videos from SP and MP, and it is still the same as the first one.

The multiplayer graphics are still very downgraded such as gear and character models compared to the single player...what a dissapointment.

im not sure that it does have worse graphics personally. i think its more to do with the lighting. it was pretty flat in the first game, but the dark neon environments of vegas helped hide it. the footage released so far for this game however have been very bright, daylight levels. so that flat lighting is even more evident. but in terms of graphics in general, poly count, textures etc. it looks about the same. if not better.

jeez dude, I'm sure your opinion is well thought out and all but as snoopers pointed out this game like the vast majority of others out there are multi platform, GRAW, Oblivion, GTA, PES, FIFA you name it ...apart from Wii/DS and the odd exclusive it's all the same

and btw arguably kameo, pinata, bioshock, banjo, mass effect, epics excellent unreal engine 1st or 3rd party are either artistic, original, technical to some degree or another.

Yawn, same game, different name.

Lol Gmulis, u talk as if the PS3 + 360 don't have the exact same games on them, anywaaaayyy.

Rainbow Six went downhill exactly after Ravens Shield, this stuff is such a bore, not to mention the character creation was some of the laziest i've ever seen, thats on par with games like...... man i can't even remember a specific game thats character creation was so damn lazy, im sure it was like 2 generations ago.

Thats the thing, same game with the same name, plus add number 2 and you got yourself a new game.

This is a expansion and I personally don't think it's worth it unless you play the original one to death then this is a good purchase with quite a few good features.

I for one got sick and tired of vegas, so damn boring.

Same with Vegas 1, same with every single 360 game. When will people learn?
Games look like shit in screenshots and trailers compared to how they look when actually playing them. Or maby my Samsung plasma is some sort of magic make-pretty device, but thats my experience since the 360 first came out.
Dunno if its due to the compression, or the encoding of trailers (even most HD trailers are rarely encoded with the HD codec, gametrailers.com is the best example)
Huge blocks and brown washed out colors in most trailers..

PS: Dont use component, VGA or HDMI for the win.

Hm... Sure, it maybe looks a bit worse than Vegas 1, but it seems like the framerate is stable (wich it wasnt in Vegas 1). So thats a good thing...

IMO the main differences in this second installation of RB6 VEGAS are:

- Graphics in MP better (nearly as good as SP thx to better lighting)
- Campaign now playable in coop WITH story
- XP now gained in SP, MP and coop campaign (-> new gear, new weapons)
- Customized character now usable in SP, MP and coop campaign

Is it me or does anyone else think that maybe the PS3 is the lead console for R6V2 and that's why it appears to look worse than the first one? ;)

I wish I could, I actually have the PS3 preview build, but Sony still won't lend us a debug PS3.
