It may be a surprise for some but we've had to wait until today to see the first Behind the Scenes video of The Last of Us. In this first episode, the guys at Naughty Dog tell us more about the infected. To say that this game is highly anticipated would be quite an understatement, but we'll have to wait until June 11 in North America and June 14 in Europe to discover this devastated world.

The subjects in a game says nothing about how good it'll be or how it's going to play.
Anyone else thinks the graphics have been severely downgraded?

no. No I wont.
Its just uncharted on a dark corridor. game is still cartoonish, has cartoonish enemies and colours. maybe if you wanted to make a true survival-horror, you shoulda played first silent hill or Amnesia and take from them the cues needed and learn the atmosphere, colours and all things that make our psyche fear a normal polygonal model.
FF SUCKS.
cant wait for this game. pittsburgh being apart of it is the icing on the cake.

In this game a parasitoidal fungus infects & adjusts behaviors of the host human to propagate the fungus.
This infections similarity with zombies is only really coincidental as such fungi' have been around for millions of years, it's just that humans aren't susceptible... yet.
There is a cordycep fungus for every insect in the animal kingdom. The Last of Us is about the cordycep fungus infecting humans. We can't say, for certain, that this won't actually happen for real someday. Also, they're NOT zombies! Zombies are re-animated corpses. In the Last of Us, they have infected STILL LIVING humans. It's been revealed, the infected humans still have their consiousness, but are powerless to control their own bodies, due to the cordycep fungus that entered their minds (just like the insects, in real life.) Of course, it's your loss for missing out on a amazing game.
I also don't think the designs are uninspired. They were inspired by the look and function of the actual fungus that does this in insects (meshed with other similar fungi). If they went necromorph style I would say uninspired, but using the cordyceps fungus as inspiration, and then using the clicking and echo-location is brilliant, tense, and I think terrifying.
I honestly can't remember the last time a new IP has interested me this much. They look to have blended the best parts of my favorite genres:
1) the great storytelling and character development of linear adventure games
2) the sense of awe and exploration of open world style games
3) the depth of combat and inventory of rpg games
Not to mention the sound, graphics, animation, and physics all seem top notch. I realize everyone has different opinions, but this is as close to any game I have seen to deserving universal acclaim (at least from whats been shown).
