Sony and Read at Dawn finally released somthing new about the intriguing The Order: 1886. The trailer is sadly only available on youtube for the moment, so it won't be posted here until we get a high quality source, but here are some images.
I realy despise the grain Filter they are using to give it a more cinematic approach. It just takes away somuch of the images sharpness. Combined with all the other cinematic Effects some of the footage just looks way to blured. I would like a much more clean and crisp picture.
Looks fantastic and the transition from cutscene to gameplay is unbelievably seamless. However, I'm worried about the gameplay. From what I can gather out of the short snippets of gameplay, it's Grumpy Old Gears of War - QTE Men. With moustaches. I really hope that there is more to it. I like the setting and the atmosphere, so I hope that there is more meat on it's bones, gameplaywise.

I love the atmosphere in this game already. It is like Alan wake with better animations.
About the whole gameplay conversation going on everywhere i have to get rid of some things.
What the hell is wrong with everybody bitching about the gameplay propably not beeing innovating enough? Like how many games that come out are truly something new? Whats wrong with a gears of war for Playstation? To me it smells like there are a lot of ms boys in the forums today.
So its like Gears of War, guess what, Gears of War didnt invent a damn thing and this is how third person shooters are like and it shocks some of you?. You see the characters, you run around and shoot stuff thats the third person shooter genre. Its like asking FPS to do more than what FPS genre should do.
What can be innovating is what you can do with the gameplay such as weapons, character abilities...thats where the real meat comes in, not that "oh it got cover shooting, screw that".
Some of the instant complaints is so laughable, this one takes the prize. Whats worse is everyone who complaints is basing it on a few seconds of running to cover and shooting.
Now I understand the QTE hate, I hate it with a passion, but outside of that, we dont know a damn thing about it.

Only when Gears had its gameplay debut it showed a lot more promise with the graphics to boot as well as at least one new interesting mechanic.
I'm keen to see more on The Order, but I think the majority of people who are concerned with the gameplay have every right to be; there was nothing exciting about it besides the graphics.

In their defence the current state of high budget games do bring it upon themselves for the exact same reasons in the questions you pose. you can understand their sentiment if they are 'ms fanboys' especially following ryse. which was dull gameplay wise to quite a few people. its not hard to see the parallels seeing as this showing didn't exactly alleviate that concern. Then again, they probably don't have to till they are ready for a full reveal.
No i dont quite see it that way when what peobple talking about gameplay are refering to those 2 seconds in the clip that could be seen. Im more disapointed about the hype that was built up these days and then showing us little that they did.
A third person shooter can have much more than just shooting around like a fool. You can have a great story, atmosphere, puzzles, exploration and a lot more stuff. GoW didn't have any of that, save the shooting, so not every game has to be like that at all. Hopefully, even if it's just a shooter it will be more like Alan Wake than Gears. And I liked Gears back in the day, mind you, but another game like that would be boring. This looks very promising with that fantastic atmosphere and those incredible graphics but if it turns out to be nothing more than a brainless shooter I for one will be very very disappointed.
Reminds me of the Quantum Break tease and eventual e3 showing last year. Both scenarios did nothing to advance the narrative about the title other than show off technical accomplishment. There's nothing wrong with that, but slotting in a few seconds of gameplay that probably isn't a good representation/slice/taste/tease of what will be on offer in the actual game just invites scepticism. Damn, did you just jinxed this game. Alan Wake was in dev for years no MP and it kinda flopped big time. Although this is a more proper tps game. I love the visuals too in this game. I do not understand gears of war comparison. Those were like baby elephants. Hope this game is good. Expecting to get PS4 with in a year.

It didn't flop "big time", sold 3 million copies as of last year, and the PC port was very successful. It was a grower, and because it didn't sell a million in the first month it came out Microsoft didn't want to fund a sequel right away which is why Quantum Break is happening and then hopefully we get Alan Wake 2.
Don't know what MP has to do with Alan Wake lol. At least The Order looked like it could've had 4 player co-op multiplayer.

I guess the similarities with Alan Wake would be both are focusing on SP only and very atmospheric type of games. You are right Alan Wake did well in the end but may be did not get enough praise or popularity as it probably deserved ? This game might suffer the same fate. Who knows ? But as long as the game is good sales or ratings do not matter too much.
