CD Projekt sent us more than 40 new images of The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings as well as some gorgeous artworks. The game will be available on May 17 on PC while we still hope for a console release later.
Good graphics won't mean anything if the engine doesn't perform well on most PC's (witcher 1 had that problem). All the footage they have released so far is sub 30 FPS which makes me worried.
And Witcher 1 had way too much backtracking so I quit after Chapter 3...I want to hear more about the gameplay...
I am just glad that the PC version supports Xbox 360 controller natively LOL
I do hope they port the game to consoles as well, I know many would like that, Raptor is one of them.
Looks damn good. I'd like to see this game on consoles, but even though I am a console player through and through, I can't see neither ps3 or 360 pulling such graphics without downgrading it. It's definitely a game that takes advantage of PC's superior power. I'm envious, but at least hardcore pc gamers finally get a high profile title made especially for them.
Looks gorgeous, but as a PC game they've basically wasted their efforts as it will sell virtually nothing. Even PC die hards like Crytek now realise console gaming is all that matters.

I hope they WON'T port it on consoles, so you for once felt what it's like to be unable to play a game you want.
Wow, I hope you don't ever get AIDS or anything. Then you would be forced to infect the entire population of the world, so that they too, can feel the pain you suffer. LOL, is that really your reasoning? You want other people to miss out on a potentially amazing game, just so you can feel better about missing out on some in the past? I guess I must just be a really nice guy or something, because I would want everyone who enjoys games to be able to enjoy games...
wow i didnt even realize this is pc only until just now i thought it was for both 360 and ps3 as well. thats kinda lame. and i agree that was a big mistake by them this isnt going to sell as well as theyre hoping and wouldve sold way more if it was on consoles. i mean id get it if my pc was good enough to run it on high but i highly doubt it is

So basically you want the game to fail, you do realise that most games can't survive on PC alone these days.
StarCraft 2 and the Witcher 1 say hi. And the fact with Witcher 1, that they took another year to make the game better for free, and still have the game be a resounding success says a lot.

Not putting it on consoles was a stupid decision in this day and age especially for a single player RPG....not trying to derail but the CDProject is just leaving money on the table.
Anyone remember the Witcher 1 console remake shots? They looked incredible that means they have the tech to port it but I don't understand why they are not doing so
They haven't ruled it out, so I'm not sure why everyone is bitching. And if it were so guaranteed to fail than this sequel wouldn't even exist in the first place.

Tell that to Valve. Steam is doing them a mighty fine job. They made enough money off of the newly implemented in game shop in TF2 to give all of the creators of the poly-count packs a fat chunk (like 10's of thousands) of money for a few models.
World of Warcraft is the most successful game out there. Starcraft 2 is hugely popular and successful. Diablo 3 is going to be incredible. PC games are more than capable of bringing in bank, when they are actually good PC games. And once the fad of screwing over PC players lightens up, PC games will start doing better.
I think the 1st Witcher sold about 2 million copies which is pretty good. Besides the game is being developed in a country where pc gaming was always was very, very strong. I mean, before the playstation nobody knew the word "console" as in "a video game system". Even today, when you walk into a bigger store, console software is like a shelf for each system and then there's two long alleys packed tightly with pc titles. As a console gamer I always wanted for consoles to become stronger, but I don't want pc gaming to be wiped out. Besides, both ps3 and 360 can still produce some amazing graphics, but only when the games are made with console limitations in mind. When you know you can't have the highest resolution textures everywhere and that you can't go all out on poly-count and you design the looks with all that in mind, the game can still look great, but this here is a true pc title. It doesn't hold back on texture resolution, poly-count and all that, because a PC has a shitload of ram and vram. I'm pretty sure the game would look a lot less spectacular on consoles.
