Game looks awesome. Music in this trailer would fit Deus Ex more, but still very nice.

Music sounds awesome.

But I what pissed me off in the trailer was how many parts they kept showing Garrett in third person from the cutscenes and then it goes back to the boring first person arms hovering, its just a big tease for third person fans...not even a damn option to toggle between the two.

If it was third person, or atleast had the option i would definitely be interested, but i dont want to play a game were i feel like i am a hovering camera with arms straight forward like a zombie hovering on bottom of the screen throughout the game, its annoying.

Lets wait, how its gonna end up. For me, it lost its original atmosphere, but Im judging only from the videos they released, so....I dont know. Thief has to be damn dark, very depressive and talk as less as possible.

seems to me you're looking for a different game. maybe splinter cell would be more to your tastes? thief has always been first person. bar the shitty third game which let you have a elders scrolls quality third person mode i.e. shit.

I dont like Splinter Cell, the whole modern day, tech stuff isnt my thing (more or less goes to MGS as well).
I like the atmosphere and setting of Thief, but first person stealth always puts me off.

I remember reading somewhere that the very beginning of this game, you start out in third person briefly, but then its first person view to the end of the game, a bummer.

It's not entirely accurate, Dark Project had third person view.

Well, i think it's fair to say that pretty much all teh thief games have been best played in first person, even if a third person camera was available in some of them :P

I would think it would be best to play it in first person too IF they didnt plan on making a proper third person view to it.
Games like Thief and say Elder Scrolls, has these tiny item picks up and such that needs upclose camera and cursor, unlike in third person were its pretty simple and static with a glowing hint you just go close and press a button to pick up.

Atleast thats how i see it.
But like I said, a toggle button to swap between the two would be fine to me. Third person for your typical run around, cover...etc. and first person to pick up stuff or locate hidden stuff upclose.

Or...you could just play the game as it was designed to be played. I mean, let's face it. The third person camera in TES, as an example, is for taking screens of your character, not for playing the game. The game is designed around the first person perspective.

Thats the thing, i dont like first person stealth games. I tried giving Dishonored a try but i didnt com far until i became bored of it.
I rather see my entire character move around, go into cover, know when i am in shadows, rotate the camera to see more of what i need to see...etc.

But Thief is first person so its not for me, I am getting really tired of this perspective as of late so I guess I will just look another place.
I just thought it was a shame that they couldnt do a camera view toggle and improve it from previous Thief games.

Well, whether it'd be an improvement or not is highly subjective. It's just not what they are trying to accomplish. I mean you can't berate soup because it's not solid, that's not the point of soup. In the same way , all first person games wouldn't by default be better in third person. In fact the first person view can potentially add a lot of tension as you CAN'T have some sort of out-of-body floaty cam that let's you see things that you wouldn't actually be able to see. Perhaps you'd have to use other means of detecting enemies, like gadgets, or sound or shadows and so forth. Again, just slating the perspective makes no sense. It's all about what the game does with it.

Well, whatever floats your boat.

I dont disagree, i just think it depends what their priorty and idea of their game was from start.
Its kind of like how third person wouldnt work in third person...imagine playing say for example Vanquish in first person lol

Like I said, i do like the atmosphere and art, its just a shame its in first person.
When I played Dishonored which was almost to mid-end and then i looked at how Thief was, i saw some similairities here and there, so I knew if Dishonored's first person stealth part didnt do much to me, Thief would be the same.

So this is set in a clearly medieval European inspired city, but the character all speak with very broad... American accents? Truly bizarre.

Visually quite weak too, with truly awful facial animation. Even by last gen standards, this doesn't look good.
