Xbox 360

Microsoft just sent me this tiny screenshot of Halo 3. Nothing much to see, but it's always a pleasure.

Decent sized hill in the background. I wonder if we can get to the top?

Other than that, I don't have much to say about it. except that i feel like i've seen the mc standing on that rock before.

there is no doubt that although it probably wont look mindblowing, it will be very sharp and run flawless, exactly what counts in HALO ;)

Has a game with so much hype about large scale battles shown so many open, bare areas with nothing in them?

Ever stop to consider they are trying not to ruin the game for people that will actually play it? You've watched previous videos right? The environments looked plenty good to me and never seemed too empty unless of course you want to see 1,000 wooden crates throughout the environment. The game may have its large battles, but exactly what sorta sense would it make to make every single encounter to be a large battle? They are trying to properly pace this thing and wrap a story around it this isn't a game of zero importance where they can afford to do such stupid things.

If a game only shows a screenshot with one enemy does that mean there aren't more than that? It's a screenshot it shows what the developers feel like showing. Guess nobody ever considered what happens when you finally make your way down to the ark where all the covenant are surrounding it ? :)

Uhhh according to your own posts I played Halo before you did.
Guess nobody ever considered
I guess you never considered the fact some of us would like to see what it offers in substance over and instead of hype hype hype.

We have plenty of mug shots with empy backgrounds. It would be nice to see something different for a change from a game, that reviewers say have a lot of variety. Most true fans are on black out right now anyhow and have the game pre-ordered. The rest of us gamers are looking for more substantial content and non-partisan feedback. I quite enjoyed the OXM interview for that very reason--no fan induced hype, but some quality comments from someone who was critiqueing a game they played--not a fan hyping a game in a mold they hope it to be.

I didn't say you didn't play Halo. I'm saying for people that do intend to play Halo 3, which is a lot of people out there, we apprecaite aspects of the game not being ruined. If I even so as get a hint of where a major showdown takes place it will ruin the shock of coming across it for the first time in the game.

Next thing you know you're playing and BAM you start recognizing an area and you expect a major battle to kick off. Friend has been going nuts about the halo 3 intro lol and I keep telling him I don't want to hear anything about it.

The comment wasn't worded in a way to suggest you wont play Halo 3 just as a means to sarcastically suggest that I think a lot of people will want to play Halo 3 so even if some among us DID want to see such things they will likely cater to the majority that do not want to be spoiled.

One doesn't necessarily have to be a bungie or halo lapdog to make assumptions that Halo 3 will be an awesome game. Not suggesting thats what you said, but people WILL have total confidence in a developer.

Also yea I'll assume practically everyone on this site probably played Halo before me I got to it very late, but thankfully that didn't affect my enjoyment of it :)

Can you blame people for believing what Bungie says? Even if they weren't totally honest about everything I think they've already overdelivered.

I thought the same thing. And what are they trying to hide with such a small screen.

Well, FP shots aren't as interesting. We already know everything about the HUD. I guess this shot is to show off the lighting and open environment.

It all doesn't matter in the end. The game receives the hype it deserves, as did all the other great games that were made. I don't recall a game with exceptional sales being medicore or even bad, they all received the hype they deserved, cause the game studios were working hard for that success. It's not like it all happened by accident or over night, like most people seem to believe.

Same goes with Bungie, they worked hard, starting from being nonames, untill now. The games sold so well, cause they are very good and cause Bungie made every decision on that game with passion. Every decision is the right one if you do it with energy and passion. [Edit]: Great example on that one: USA were the first to land on the moon, not because it was the right thing to do, but because Kennedy made this decision with a huge amount of energy and passion behind it.

Exactly...

This is becoming silly by the minute. People are welcoming any (scarce) bread crump from Bungie/microsft as if it was Manna from the gods...
Anyway, move along, nothing to see here.

I dont appreciate small shots like these (or any bullshot-esque shots for that matter) but all this media coverage for a competitor's exclusive title must really be irritating the king of all hype and media spin, the bullshit superlative-puker of the industry and its loyal followers.

Keep it up!
