Xbox 360

Eidos announced today that Tomb Raider Anniversary will be released on Xbox Live via episodic content. The pack of 4 episodes, along with the Croft Manor, will cost 2400 points. A version of Tomb Raider Legend will be required to play the game, but a full retail version will also be available a bit later. First screens inside.

Looks nice.

But another source states that -

QUOTE
"Tomb Raider Legend owners will have to pay 2400 Microsoft points (GBP 20.40 / EUR 27.91 / USD 29.99) for all four episodes." - Eurogamer.net. Similar stories at <6b06>http://www.pro-g.co.uk, http://www.gamesindustry.biz/

Where as here it states that 2 episodes will be 2400, all other sources state that all 4 episodes will be 2400 together.

Weird it is!

Now that's about half the price of a full version game here in Switzerland...
- but without a possibility to share the game with friends...
- and without additional achievement-points (or at least not 500 points)?

And it will have the same framerate-problems as TR:Legend had in 1080i.

I really enjoyed TR:Legend, but i will not buy additional content for that game for this price.

best regards,
ScarJack

Actually they are neither 4:3 nor 16:9. There were marked as 360 by Eidos though.

Ah so you pay 2400 MP once and you'll be able to download the next when it comes available?

@ rezehnder: Of course it won't lag, this isn't TB:L quality, so the 360 shouldn't struggle with this.
[edit] Oh wait, you need the TB:L disc to play this.. well, if it only uses the texture files.
(btw, 1080i is worse than 720p.. okay okay.. in my opinion)

Cool, I'm not really used to non-widescreen images for 360 games!

TB:L runs really smooth while playing in 720p... but as my TV is optimized for 1080i and as i prefer that resolution when playing TB:L --> i had framerate problems all the time.
In my opinion TB:L is one of the games that looks far better in 1080i then in 720p (on my TV) and so i had to live with the framerate problems.

There was never a patch for TB:L to fix that problem, so I just hoped they would have fixed it for TB:Anniversary... but I guess that's not the case.

So on one hand; 50% of a full price game is cheap...
on the other hand; it's not worth it for me without the corresponding amount of achievement points. ;)

ScarJack

TB:L doesn't run very well at 720p either.

Looks like the PC game.. which isn't bad I guess. The PC game is sorta running on a pretty low-tech engine but it looks nice enough and it runs very well.

When did we start abbreviating Tomb Raider as "TB"?

But yeah, Legend didn't run that well in 720p. It wasn't too bad, but I wouldn't call it "really smooth".

Why would they? having recently gone through both this and Legend on Gametap I have to say these games are awesome, almost good enough to make me forget TR:3 through AoD... almost.
