Do the kills have to be so gratuitous? To go from victim to cold murderer who stabs people in the neck with arrows and shotgun executions to the face, feels so fucking weird. I expect it from assassin or hardened veteran characters, but for someone of her age and experience...

I don't know, man. As someone who doesn't already like Uncharted, but liked older Tomb Raiders, this is not reassuring even if an island metroidvania sounds cool.

I'd much rather prefer to see her as a cold blooded murderer tbh, so I'm fine with this... If you think about it, Lara was always quite a villain, taking what she wanted and killing everyone in her way. Maybe that's why I always liked her so much.

I guess Lara Croft became a cold bloodied killer, when Joel from "The Last of Us" tried to rape her. She's like that old movie called "Avenging Angel" or something. Men...beware, because Lara Croft has plenty of bullets and arrows...*dramatic music*

i'm so hopeful about this game.it's so real Except carring weapons it is so Ridicule.a shotgun, bow,Colt & a machine gun is so unreal. i guess lara is powerful than three man. However i love this game.and AI need to get better than this.

Maybe she just couldn't be a victim anymore if she wanted to live, being changed completely by her circumstances. That can happen in a survival situation. I think it's more realistic than a gradual change. It's kill or be killed and Lara has to recognize that and jump into that role if she wants to make it through. I think the devs have done a good job of showing that.

This fascination with violence isn't going anywhere and I guess will just get worse. Where exactly do games go from where they are if the only thing that sells especially well these days is either spectacle or violent showing of blood and guts. I like to think this bubble will eventually burst but I'm not so sure. I remember Tomb Raider when it didn't feel like you were actually murdering things when you used your guns and Goldeneye similarly didn't honestly feel like I was shooting someone's face- at least not to a disturbing level anyway

It's where the money is most of the time though so you can hardly blame them

Wow this game looks good. I hate to keep comparing this to UC but it's unavoidable. The gameplay here seems much more encompassing. I doubt it will have the charisma of UC games but the theme is very different and dark. Charisma isn't the goal here.
And what sold it for me... "SECRET PASSAGES TO HIDDEN TOMBS". Now that's what TR is all about! One of the things that made the first and second game so great was exploration and finding hidden areas and rewards. Sometimes it was whole new parts of a map. This is day one for me, and I normally don't care about buying any game on day one.

Sadly they're sign boarded and require about as much exploration as finding the end of your street...if that is the reason you're excited, i'd prepare for disappointment.

Yeah, tombs are quite small and the puzzles are more in the light side. Tiny portion of the game.

It's all about action, hell they even had achievement for killing 200+ guys.

yeah, the graphics are insane for this gen. picking it up no doubt!!

it sucks though that this game is coming out towards the end of PS3 and 360's life cycle. would have loved to see more games with this engine years ago. oh well, cant wait to get my hands on this game!

when ASS creed games have (AS SIDE QUESTS!) more and better tombs than your game, with oh so much better platforming, you know you're playing a pretty mediocre game and a HORRIBLE Tomb Raider.

Didn't these retards play Last Revelations &Chronicles to know more about the insight of Lara's Genesis? Of course they didn't, they didn't make'em. Toby Gard left Tomb Raider because it was more of a dumb westernised hentaiotaku virgin fap for a character, than a game. It should be more about the wonder the solo exploration conveys on you. And yet these sub-par developers choose to Retcon the series to focus on a Character that becomes badass, than how it evolved from amateur exploration to hardcore tomb raiding in the course of one game.

There is no denying Tomb Raider has changed. I like what I see very much but the tombs are clearly a HUGE HUGE let down. I get that they want to build the character this time around but I need to see the huge exploration and tombs back in the next title if there is one. If not, this game will be the last tomb raider I buy at launch and will resort to rental from now on.

As it is an origin story I can accept the gameplay which looks more engrossing than I thought it would be, but like alimokrane I hope the next one use this Lara but in her present tomb raiding form. I think using her mansion as the hub and her travelling to different locations will work well.

Funny how people keep saying they wish it had more puzzles and exploration and less third person shooter and blood and guts.....and then in the next sentence "OMG but the graphics! I'm buying for sure!!!". I'm pretty sure that will just reinforce Crystal Dynamics idea that Tomb Raider as a linear shooter is the winning formula, and guarantee that TR WON'T be going back to its roots anytime soon.

Talk about a generational leap from the tomb raider I used to know. I guess she always did run around tombs and such totting two pistols and shooting everyone insight. What do we have instore for the next just consoles 360 brain splatterings all over the place? Anyway the game does look like an excellent reboot and has gotten me interested in tomb raider again. Though the two place over head one was fun too.
