Activision just released these images of Tony Hawk's Project 8, in a mix of weird resolutions. The animations looks awesome, and the game doesn't look too bad on images either.

Activision call me when you actually put some effort into expanding the game past canned animations and janky physics.
1) enjoy playing games that push the genre forward instead of watching reruns
2) people who actually skateboard or have skateboarded in the past
The game is going no where, not only have they done nothing (or very little) with regards to the next gen power but they've done nothing to push the game design forward at all. They've slapped a new coat of paint, a "NEXT GEN" sticker on the box and blam all the gaming sheep will buy their product.
When are we going to see a skating game that actually starts to use physics properly, where you have to think about keeping your balance. A game where the board isn't magically attached to your feet with invisible strings. A game that blends animation well and uses proper collision detection so your skater reacts appropriately to falling/spinning/turning or losing their balance.
Neversoft is just cashing in on it's fans. It's time for a change.

(and we all know that people WILL by this rehash , just look at all the fifas and maddens that EA pump out, every one complains yet they still buy.)
but one thing is for sure ?((as an ex skater) i will reserve my judgement till i have a play test, and if its anything like TH1 or TH2 on the dreamcast then it WILL rock. any thing other than that ...meh!
and your right a change IS needed, compatition is a good thing , there is no contest for neversoft and TH ..so they are in no rush to make the changes that are needed.

They did not just slap on the new graphics, they worked hard (and still are) for that... things like that are not just upgradable in a couple of weeks...
Plus im a fan of the first three or four games of the serie, i dont skate, and i dont like reruns, but i sure as hell reconise a golden formula if i see or play one.. and the gameplay of the tony hawk series is classic!
I dont think they should improve that at all.. the way how you can combo is amazingly fun, and can be challenging if your really going for the high score, but oh so rewarding... sure, it's arcade like, simple, yet effective.. just like pong, super mario, or sonic, some games dont need any change in the cameplay at all... they just need new graphics, new modes and options, and that's it...
People always have something to complain about, if they change the gameplay, people will be angry with the developers for screwing up the once amazing gameplay...
So far, we know nothing about where the game is going.. you cant judge that at all from two movies and a couple of screens.. it could be a MMO, there could be innovative modes in there we dont know about yet, different game modes, the gameplay could be different as well, we dont even know yet!
As far as i can see, they dumped the bam margera gimmick style, and are shooting for a more realistic look to it all.. more mature this time, but hopefully still fun like the first couple of games!
TH:AW was a steaming dog turd. Possibly the worst launch 360 game I played besides PDZ and NHL2K6. I think TH:AW is the reason why I'm so disappointed that Project 8 is turning out to be from the same turd pile.
hows this for new, those slo-mo moments are player controlled, you push down both analog sticks to initiate. when in slo-mo you control your skater's feet individually with the analog sticks, each stick moves a foot and it allows you to teach him how to do a trick
(remember when pro's showed you a new trick in thug and stuff, now you actually have to learn it)
seems pretty cool eh?

Good music and realistic
Theres a reason why I dont play SSX Tricky
Have you played the Tony Hawk games online? The game is so unrealistic that gamers can play entire rounds just grinding non-stop, it's sickening
