2K Games has put online a demo of Top Spin 3 on Xbox Live Marketplace and PSN, and here is a gameplay demo and some images from the Xbox 360 version. The game was released this week just in time for Wimbledon, on Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and the Wii. The DS version will be out next month.
Instead of just pushing and holding the smash button before every shot, the game now forces you to time in each one. You position yourself, then push whatever button/type of shot you want to use and then release the button. If you time it well, it will be a good shot, and if not, you miss the shot or just do a poor one. The demo lets you play a short match in low difficulty, do some training or watch some gameplay videos.

It just didn't seem that fun to me, but I guess it can be enjoyed more if you can play against a better opponent and actually have some longer duels than this. Now it's more or less just shoot and aim, you don't even have to time it that well.
The demo is only 400 mb's though.
If you don't like challenging gameplay though, stay away and get Virtua Tennis or another arcade tennis game.
If you want to really 'dig in' to a tennis game, I love this new system.
Kudos to 2k for implementing new things that actually work.
It seems like you'll never get used to the controls at first, and you start to think they made the worst controls ever, but at some point...it clicks, and it becomes so satisfying. Seriously, it's easily worth the (very) steep learning curve!
If only they improved on the presentation (antiseptic atmosphere and sounds during matches) and slightly eerie-robotic looks of the real players, we would have a proper good tennis game. And take out Jamiroquai, silly sod.
