Xbox 360 PS3

Codemasters released this first trailer of Colin Mc Rae: DiRT, unfortunately 100% in CG. Ha well, it still makes me want to play the game even more than before!

HOLY S**T! IMPRESSIVE!

Still... even though it is CG, I believe the game will come close... if Motorstorm is anything to go by!

I hope they nail the wheel controls, the wireless wheel is gonna get some nice use with this and Forza.

Very nice trailer, wish it had mud deformation like MotorStorm on PS3, thought as I remember CmR was a rally simulation not arcade game = more CPU used for simulation etc

Very cool trailer though, looking forward to some gameplay videos.

The screenshots released so far look the same level of detail as this CG. Is it perhaps possible that the screens we've seen are not in game at all?

To be honest, the detail of the CG trailer was kind of what I was expecting from the real game, so I hope it's not too much worse than this...

... wish it had mud deformation like MotorStorm ...
I've really been looking forward to play MotorStorm for quite a while. So last weekend, when a friend bougth the ps3, i had the chance to play it and drive on several racing tracks.
Now I can say that MotorStorm looks nice at first, but also has lots of letdowns in the grafics compartment i wouldn't have expected: 2D-people, ugly non-moving bushes, no real damage model, framedrops - and especially, the mud. so the mud looks ok when you drive fast, but as soon as you go slower, it just looks like shiny plastic, really weird. and there is no texture between mud and rock, the mud just stops from one inch to the other. And so the deformation just stopps.

So i hope the DIRT in Colin Mc Rae looks *totally* different than the one in MotorStorm.

best regards,
ScarJack

Looking forward to the game and the trailer tomorrow

I think it was a mix of CGI and ingame, I reckon the desert scene just after the aerial view of the twisty roads is all in-game up until they show the driver inside. Then is all CGI again.

Codemasters Releases DiRT Trailer Online With First Gameplay Video to Follow on Xbox Live Marketplace

Strap yourself in for an incredible ride as Codemasters premieres the first trailer for DIRT™, now available to view and download at www.codemasters.com/dirt. Opening with death-defying cliff-edge cornering on Pikes Peak - one of the breathtaking all-new Hill Climb events in DiRT, the video trails the bump and grind of buggy racing, and also reveals Colin McRae’s very own prototype performance car, the R4, in a dramatic crash sequence.

Created using in-game vehicle and environmental models, this is just a first taste of the exhilaration DiRT promises to deliver when it launches in June for the Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and the PC. The PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system edition will follow shortly thereafter.

As much as the DiRT video teases some of the varied terrain that you’ll be racing through, the full game offers a massive assortment of courses, tracks, surfaces and visual styles. Terrain ranges from the narrow mountain roads of Spain and the twisting forest roads of UK, to the technical vineyard stages of Germany and the fast flowing turns of the hill climb racing in the U.S. DiRT also features full-blown off-road events in Italy, France, Germany, Japan and Australia.

Looking beyond the DiRT trailer, the first ‘in-game’ footage will premiere tomorrow, Thursday, March 29, 2007, as an exclusive download only available from Xbox Live® Marketplace.

Slap on your helmet and snap in that five-point harness because DiRT is coming! For the trailer and all the latest game information, be sure to sign up for mud splattering, gravel churning, handbrake yanking, off-road racing action online at www.codemasters.com/dirt.

CG or not not. thatwas pretty cool.

I believe it was your standard fare these days - use ingame models and render with improved effects and lighting. I do actually expect the final game to look quite alot like this, the screenshots we've seen so far are pretty close already.

Can't wait

Wow, 1. Nice video, thoroughly enjoyed it regardless of it being CG and 2. Those screens look as good as if not better than Motorstorm, and since its Clin Mc Rae ill take my chances with saving myself £425 to play Motorstorm when this should be far better.
