I downloaded this yesterday and played through it. I loved Fallout 3 but I have to say this DLC didn't do much for me.

The best part of Fallout 3 was the exploration, -finding new areas, talking to locals, getting quests etc. Operation Anchorage ditches that, and instead turns Fallout into a linear FPS shooting wave after wave of identikit soldiers. It gets boring pretty quickly, so I guess it's just as well you can finish this up in about 3 hours or so.

Hopefully the next DLC pack will be more like Fallout, and less like a generic linear FPS clone.

@ moroboshi

But this DLC is a pure combat simulator, that's what it's supose to be...in game too =)

That's too bad then, as combat was always the weakest part of Fallout 3. This DLC just felt like a poor man's FPS to me.

awwwwwwwww..............

i thought this DLC was basically going to be an extention of the normal map, with new quests and towns and storys..........

Perhaps but that doesn't make it less shitty i'm afraid :)
I have to agree with moroboshi, the combat is clearly the weakest point of Fallout 3. While it's clearly decent it's just not the first thing i'd want more of in an expansion, you know?

Would make no sense since Fallout 3 is located in Washington DC and Anchorage is a "bit" further away from DC

Seems you should wait for 'Broken Steel' then [1 March 2009], with a new level cap of 30 too.

I still have plenty to do in Fallout 3, so don't see myself buying this. Am I right in saying that this isn't the 'main' DLC? Or is it?

Correct, neither 'Operation Anchorage' nor 'The Pitt' [1 February 2009] is, however 'Broken Steel' [1 March 2009] seems to be more of a "main" DLC and continues the adventure past the main quest. ...so I bet this one will cost us a bit more...

Yeah to be totally honest this seems more like a small side quest not worth 800 points.... 200 - 400 would be more than enough...

Wow! I really hope you're wrong on that. I was really looking forward to Broken Steel, but if it costs more than 800mp then count me out. It would have to be absolutely gigantic to warrent anything more than that. As moroboshi stated, he paid $10 for this one and finished in about 3 hrs. Compare that to $60 for the full game that can easily last over 100 hrs and it's obvious that this, as with most dlc, was grossly overpriced. I agree with Firewire, 200-400mp would've been more reasonable.

i get the feeling maybe these 3 packs were suppost to be 1 for 1 price, but what with the economic climate the suits and big wigs decided to split into 3 and make more money. but i'm just guessing to be fair.

chances are broken steel will be similar to that of shivering isles for oblivion, a good 20-30 additional hours of gameplay. and if thats the case expect something along the lines of 2000+ points.

They already confirmed that no DLC will be as big as Shivering Isles. All DLCs combined will be as long as Knights of the Nine (that had about 8 hours of gameplay).

I played through this with one of my newer characters and i actually had a blast cuz im stealthy and u get to use power armor afterwards without doing the main quest... plus u get this bad suit that looks like a ninja suit and u go invisible when u duck : D

I loved it.... ill probably go throught it with my level 20 but... wheres the fun in that

(totally worth it for me : D)

ps. it took about 4-5.5 hours but i kinda rushed

Since every review says it takes only 2 to 3 hours I highly doubt you rushed.

Can't wait to purchase this DLC. I just need to pick up a couple 1600 MS point cards and i'm good to go. This and the GTA IV DLC will occupy me until Resident Evil 5 comes out.
