Electronic Arts and Microsoft released this trailer of The Godfather on Xbox 360 yesterday on the Marketplace. I also want to announce that I've decided from now on to encode the 720p movies to WMV files using the VC1 codec. Why such a change? There are a lot of (good) reasons: The codec itself is much more efficient than XVID, it's accelerated by a lot of recent graphics card, it's supported (or will be officially really soon) by ffmpeg so it's now available on all platforms as open source, and finally the Windows Media Center owners can watch the videos directly on their Xbox 360. The encoding time is almost 3 times longer than before for me, so this is a big change but I hope everyone will like it. Media Center owners, let me know if it worked!
Update : The media servers 6&8, and the streaming server are finally back online. Yay!

Apparently VLC will support VC-1 in the next version, perhaps a nightly or beta is available but I didn't see it briefly checking out their site. Playing in VLC is much less preferable to Quicktime anyway... but at least it would be something.
It will be awful if I can't play your vids anymore! Ack. Stupid platforms. :P
Great job on the videos Blim.
with the cost of making next gen games being so high, you'd think they would at least try :<
The style really reminds me of Max Payne
Meaning that this update to WMP is horrible as us with less advanced computers can't play the videos smoothly anymore that we could when they were encoded in xvid =(
Better get better and the lesser stay about the same... so its an improvement none the less :)
VC1 roxors :)
STICK IT IN EM PAULIE, GIVE IT TO EM GOOD!

As far as the trailer goes it looks good, yeah the graphics don't look too much like a true next gen game but the game itself looks good from a storytelling point of view. I'm going to wait on a few reviews before considering picking the game up however.
Why can't we have the polish of a port like Burnout Revenge had for the 360?
