Trailer PC Xbox 360 PS3

Dragon Age: Origins, Bioware's next RPG to be released this year, won't win any awards for its looks. The version of the game we saw in Germany suffered from stiff animations and some annoying pop-up so we hope the final game will be in better shape graphics-wise. However, we can count on Bioware to deliver an interesting gameplay system as well as an epic story, which will certainly make the game a very interesting RPG in the end.

I still dunno, as you said it looks a bit poor, texture flickering, generally low quality textures etc. Trailer is a bit of a mess too, what is with them and sticking crappy music on the end of their trailers that totally doesnt fit the style of game.

This is Bioware people...
There's no doubt that this is going to rock!
Same with the stuff Valve or Blizzard releases....

Sorry Bioware, but for the first time ever, I couldn't give a hoot about one of your titles.

I started off majorly excited for this, but each time something new in relation to this game is released, my excitement drops significantly. From the incredibly generic setting - just because it's in the fantasy genre doesn't mean you can't be original - to the bland graphics, I just can't see anything there that makes me think this is worth buying over so many other titles coming out in due course.

Oh well, at least ME2 is sure to rock...

The lack of texture mapping in general is quite bizarre, it just looks like PC games from about 3 or 4 years ago. Not good.

I read the prelogue book - and the setting is fine. The graphics won't be up there, but I don't care. I don't buy Bioware games for their fancy graphics - Mass Effect has crappy graphics but still stands as a top 3 game on the 360 in my book.

Bioware rpg games are all about gameplay - and they nearly always deliver to the max.

I just hope the crappy graphics means the game doesn't use massive system resources, not that they had to scale back the graphics because it ran so shit.

I think the issue is the perspective.. It looks like the game is made to be played in the 3rd person "Baldur's Gate" prescpective. From that "zoomed out" view the game looks very nice. It just starts to look rough as you zoom in.

I will easily forgive the outdated graphics if this game ends up being the epic co-op RPG experience I've been hoping for. Too few RPGs offer a full co-op experience through the campaign and this game looks like it just might finally deliver. Plus, if it's a spiritual successor to neverwinter nights, then that alone is a pretty big selling point for me.

It looks great but Mass Effect 2 looks much better, in any case this game will be mine the first day.

To suggest that on the level of an RPG, Mass Effect has crappy graphics is... well... pretty misleading, in my opinion lol.

It's actually the spiritual successor to Baldurs Gate 2

The artwork is great, but the amount of texture dropins are ridiculous - even with the game installed on the harddrive.

I think someone stole your eyes. Mass Effect is still one of the best looking games out there.

And I think it looks good enough, even if it isn't SUPER interesting too look at, I kind of like the lack of "omgeeze look we has shiny crazy shit!" it's called mature fantasy, and typically the setting is less fantastic, but some people prefer it being a little more down to earth.
