PS3

Now that the Cloud DVD has been released in Japan, the trailer many RPG fans awaited, yes I am talking about the Final Fantasy XIII one, is finally available for everyone to watch. It was seen for the first time last December on Square-Enix's Mega Theater by a few lucky guys. I'd like to thank Sath for pointing out the download links in our forums. I'd also like to salute the work of Finalfantasy-xiii.net who ripped both trailers (Versus is coming in the next news!)

Awesome stuff.

If the combat is what they say (real-time combat with heavy RPG) I might get this as my first Japanese RPG.

This and Versus was one of my reasons to get PS3, and games with this similair type of look.

Anyway, SE always does bad ass CG thats for sure.

Love how they combine sci-fi high-tech with fantasy, love it :D

PS. The Lighting looks sexy :)

PSS. No problem Kudgel ;)

Seems like Square Enix still enjoy their CGI...
Looks good though. Shame we won't see it until 2009 though... :/

Their CGI is amazing, goes up with Blizzard with World of Warcraft and Starcraft 2.

I say this, they said its gonna be somewhat real-time and such, then i say, let them take their time.

For a company to change one of their franchises gameplay to something they never (or maybe done once or twice) they should wait for the release, work hard on it to make it as good as possible.

Seems like they went down the FFX-2 road, and I can't say I'm pleased. However, Final Fantasy XII owned my soul for over a hundred hours, so I'll give this one a chance. I can't say it does not look awesome, I just prefer the "knight/medieval" setting to the "guns ablaze/future" scenario in this series.

uhh, the vid showed some real time cutscenes....but yeah, no real gameplay in there...any one who cant decypher the difference of the two qualities in there is either blind or trolling though. Bare in mind the game wasnt running on the ps3 when the trailers were released though, last year. So while the segments are real time, they are not running on ps3...hopefully we will see soon

looks pretty incredible

So they FINNALY is showing some fottage of the game after 2 years of showing the same pics over and over in different angels.

Well and what they show is mostly the same thing + at least a little bit more.

It looks good however but not a big fan of CG, show the real game instead plz.

Two years ago I argued that this was real time but now I withdraw from that. This is clearly a target render, no way will they achieve it IMO.

Also, kinda hard to get excited about this, the game probably wont be released before late 2009 in NA :(

I think parts of that could definitely be real time. I think people are seriously underestimating the power of the current gen consoles. It wouldn't surprise me if parts were real time as was originally suggested is all I'm saying. Excellent trailer though, love it.

The parts of fighting against a big beast and agains some soldiers(matrix scene) is real time, you only have to pay atention to ligting´s hair for example, and the animations, not as smooth and perfect like in CGs scenes. Surelly will be a great game

I thought the first time of Ratchet & Clank trailer unvealing was CG, but when I saw HD trailers of its gameplay I thought, shit, it is not any difference between what they showed and what they show now.

I do think the scenes with the menu on the screen is in-game though.

lol I haven't experienced any next gen consoles so what do I know. But the engine is still under construction today and the games are barely 14% complete. No way could have gotten such smooth performance back in 2006, clearly a target render ;)

Loved FFXII, and i'm a huge fan of FFVIII so i dig this future look. However, i can't help but feel unease about this trailer, it's one step short of being Ultraviolet level of stupid looking, with all the over the top crap happening.

But too soon to judge. Can't comment on anything else, since that "gameplay" sequence is really really old, as in "target gameplay" footage from waay back then when they didn't even had the stuff up and running, and the rest is all cG.

That trailer was made to keep the hype going. We don't see anything in there except much CGI. Until now PS3 owners don't really have much original to play but a lot of expectations which are being fed by these kinds of trailers.

This trailer is pretty old, originally shown only to the press.

MGS 4 and Gears of War were shown in 2006 as well, they were pretty as hell, and they were very close representatives of what the final game looks like. So FFXIII will look very close, if not better than these "target renders".

This game looks, as far, pretty good. If they can really achieve something like that my greetings. And by the way, a heavy stone punch to the other consoles.

To those who say that the trailer is fully CG: look carefully, they are alot of in-game scenes here.
