Aka "this is what we could do (if we weren't downgrading it later anyways)"

Damn, there's some nasty aliasing going on...

Other than that, it looks really nice

It looks really pretty! Looks like they've adapted similar tools for map building as the ones Massive uses for The Division. I'd like to play with those tools!

I certainly don't believe in any noticeable downgrades this close to release.

This nonsense again? Why would they downgrade a brand new, built from the ground up for next gen engine?

It's called dev tools and very early footage. We've already seen the game in action and it didn't look like that. The footage in this is all over the place and none of it looks like the actual game will look. They have to optimize things for the tools to have space to run.
It's not even aliasing, I think it's just plain low resolution in those shots you're talking about. Which considering the game runs in 1080p, should be the first thing that tells you this footage probably isn't the best to judge gameplay on.

Remind me, how many times did that happen? Hmm, let me know when your answer (once) becomes a pattern! ;)

And they couldn't extend these technical smarts to including women?

The aliasing is a product of the resolution of the video being screwed up during the encoding process; IGN video shows proof to the contrary.

It's not a pattern, it's an actual mission plan. Ubisoft has already limited the PC settings of Watch Dogs to make it look en par with consoles.

Here's some info of them doing it with Far Cry 4 and The Division.

http://www.gamrreview.com/news/91692/rumour-the-di...

Basically they show the game running on a highend PC, then they downgrade the PC version until it lines up with consoles, and then they say it looks just as good as it always did.

That's definitely the case. It looks like the source of this encode was a 1080i (interlaced) video, or during processing it was erroneously treated as if it was interlaced. It looks horrible and it's not aliasing, because the vertical resolution is still 1920 with no lost pixels. Only every other horizontal line is lost.
The logo and info screens in the beginning and end don't suffer from that problem, so the mistake was made somewhere earlier in the chain of people who had their hands on it (Ubisoft production / marketing).

i agree BUT i like that they have sorted that horrid problem of how to get down fast from a building

though i hope they have also sorted the problem i hated when your hung on the side of a building and you want to jump one way and he jumps off totally :/

i think this game is a preowned game for me, i liked the first assassins creed as it was different, the rest were crap and AC4 i hated, specially the ship sailing sections

they just keep making more AC games. they get pretty good scores. i wish they would slow down though. I like the cloth physics in this, it looks pretty good.

As always, I plan to pick up my multiplats on PC. I just hope they fix the performance on ALL platforms, the AC franchise has a notorious lineage dating back to AC1 ps3 and 360.

I'd start with fixing the borked level of detail and drawing distance system they use, it's so outdated.

What happened with Watch Dogs was quite different as they showed the game running on PC two years prior to launch and had no devkits for X1/PS4.

AC:U is suppose to launch in just about 3 months, so I'd say that the final optimization might even end up enabling more polished visuals. :P

Btw. I game development is of any interest, be sure to check the IGN Making AC:U series. That pretty much proves it's the real deal.

I'll buy it...if not for the gameplay, then just to soak up all that atmosphere and detail in Paris!

I really enjoyed Black Flag.. That already looked very good, this new one with a slightly upgraded engine will look at least as good.. I will enjoy it aswell most likely.. Good SP and added co-op missions, bring it on!
