Commented on 2009-02-19 08:06:57i wasn't a huge katamari fan, i guess it was a bit too esoteric for me, and nobynobyboy seems to be following in the same vein.

And that's precisely what I'm talking about. When a Western developer (say, Rare) develops a game with a clear focus on sandbox gameplay, plenty of wackiness, strong community aspect and a low price (oh, say, Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts), it's a disappointment. When that cool cat Takahashi does pretty much the same thing, it's brilliant. I really despise those double standards.

this however, is almost an "anti-game" and thats why it is being praised, in much the same way flower or flow are "anti-games" they remove modern game conventions and opt for playing for playing's sake, not because the game tells you to.

it's not like somebody makes you to buy it...
why do you worry so much about people who are excited about strange crazy things?
maybe you should be worry more about people who spend 15xmore on some madden
game EVERY year... check how many people do this.
and yeah noby is everything i was expecting i even have great time reading manual :)
