Trailer Xbox 360 PS3

505 Games and Gaijin Software put together a new trailer for IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey, which is planned to be released at the end of this year.
Update: The video aspect ratio has been fixed.

505 Games fact sheet:
Gaijin Software's WWII flight sim shooter is based around large-scale aerial combat over the ground-based military operations of World War II. Players participate in the war’s most famous confrontations piloting fighters and heavy bombers across a range of varied missions. There are five seats of war to engage in – The Battle of Britain, Stalingrad, Berlin, Sicily and Korsun – representing the main airborne battles of World War II in Europe.

505 Games will publish IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds Of Prey on the 1C Label for PS3, Xbox 360, Nintendo DS and PSP in late 2009.

Captures really well the beauty of a traditional simulator.

Looks amazing.. wasn't privileged enough to play the first one but I heard that it's considered one of the best flight sims/fighter games out there...

OMG!!!! I've been waiting for this for a while.

IL2 has always had the best flight model of any WW2 or of any other simulator for that matter.

I hope the online support is pretty good.

Man it looks fantastic. If only someone would do a modern day flight simulator on consoles, hehe.

I seriously hope that, i just cant imagine playing this beauty on a standard controller, that wouldn't do the simulation any justice....

Modern day flight is actually dead boring if done in a realistic way because the majority of fighting is done with beyond visual range missiles, WW2 was great because all the battles were at such close quarters and you had to have the skill to get direct line of sight with your machine guns.

Modern planes are only fun if you make it a bit unrealistic, like Ace Combat, IMO.

So its already confirmed that this game will be running in less than 720p(by the size of the video)? I'll buy it anyways, just seems odd that they would release a video that size.

Love that it's coming out for DS. What's it going to be like there, clicking on planes with the stylus to shoot them down? ;)

Actually, it looks like a rip from dvd-video which could be a part of the press kit. Hence, wrong aspect ratio in the earlier version.

Ah nice I love the Stuka.
Ground environments look really good from far away which, to be honest, means nothing since most air combat games share that characteristic and in the end from close up it looks well… functional…

These are exactly my thoughts. And if “realistic” means that you have to use the systems the way they are meant to be used then it is even impossible on consoles due to the limit of buttons… hell look at the Flight Simulator series e.g. the VRS F-18 Hornet for FS2004 and you know what I’m talking about.
By the way that’s the most realistic display of a modern fighter jet at the moment.

Absolutely not, many European PR people don't understand the glory of 720p. For example EA Europe put online most of their stuff in 640x360, and obviously their games aren't in that res.

Yeah, in your opinion. To me using radar, interacting with realistic physics, having to plan a mission, selecting specific weapons for a task and having to conserve ammo add to immersion and that's what I like. I realize that i'm in the minority and there is a considerable barrier to entry for the uninitiated, but if you have a natural interest and put in the work it's infinitely more rewarding in the end.

What a slap in the fucking face. Every platform apart from the PC... the nintendo DS for crying out loud. I've bought every flight simulator for as long as I can remember, I have all the gadgets, head tracking, high end flight stick, rudder pedals, none of which I'll be able to use when I buy this cracking looking title for my 360. Sssssigh..... why cant microsoft just allow pc devices to be used on the 360, oh thats right because they like to bleed every penny out os us for overpriced low quality peripherals.

I will be buying it regardless though :) and I think it's a good thing that the consoles are getting a flight simulator of this caliber as it will no doubt introduce a whole new audience to the joy of iL2 and flight sims in general.

Just hurry up with the decent flight sticks and head tracking already MS.

Its not a slap in the face for pc owners, this game is intended purely for the console market, plain and simply. There's nothing in this game that hasn't really been done in the pc line of games of IL-2. This isn't even being made by Oleg's team (the guy who created the IL-2 series), wait for his game which will be pc only, and should take every advantage of the platform, including your beloved flight sticks ;)
