PC Xbox 360 PS3

The Crossing is one of those games that everyone has heard about or even seen images/videos, but that somehow never got any official medias here. Well this is finally fixed thanks to this trailer, showing a quite ambitious title.

It sounds and looks cool, but i don't really understand what it's all about. A game where NPCs can be players? wha? What's crossplayer supposed to mean?

Assassins Creed meets GTA?! Meets CrossPlayer ^^
Hm, could become some fun... but I doubt it ^^
But let's wait and see. Quite weird story, although...

Wow, I haven't heard about this one in a while. To clear up any confusion the game is set up like a single player story mode but the NPC's are controlled by other real people online. Imo it sounds really good. I don't know how well they can execute though. To play as an NPC would kind of be like being part of a gauntlet stopping someone from getting through. I don't know how long that would stay interesting.

Pauly!! yeah how long that would stay interesting is a good question.. hopefully maybe some Co-op will come our way in this game... What little gameplay (if that now was gameplay) we saw did really look unique and cool!!... personally i have never heard about this one ... but the people that are working on it have a good resumé..

Well, several weak bad-guys teaming up on a single templar might be a fun concept, if it's executed in a way that makes it possible for the bad-guys to set up trap like situations and catch the stronger guy off guard and so forth. I guess we will learn more as to how it will play as the game matures :)

ya didnt see any ps3 announcemet... but if this game matures from here we could have a big winner.... the templar throwing round blade and the knife are wicked, and concept .....

But as was said i want to know what the NPC's will have on their side, i mean i love the concept of players could be anyone, but how will they make peope want to drop in as npc's.. or are the generic npc's actually undercover warriors?

But definitly one of the best looking games to come out of no where nice surprise :) And with a unique gameplay concept as well even more surprising... lets hope they can deliver the gameplay

I hope this is a joke, because the Source Engine is far superior to the UE3 engine. Ir runs smoother and is more scalable. Also, its games look unique from one another, unlike UE3 engine games, which all look the same and have almost zero interaction with the environment. There are a few that stand out, but for the most part the UE3 engine is all hype and displays little, if none of the properties that were originally shown in the tech demo 4 or 5 years ago. Whereas the Source Engine has matured with age and continues to get better and better with each game that utilizes it fully.

It looks nice and the idea is pretty solid, exept that much like in splinter cell where nobody wanted to play as a mercenary, nobody will want to play as a npc unless they make it really intresting.

This has nothing to do with the engine, it is the unimaginative developers that are to blame, there are plenty of ÚE3 game that look unique Bioshock and Lost Odyssey are pretty good examples of this.

And to say that the UE3 engine "delivers very little" is a very ignorant thing to say, but other than that i agree with you the source engine is awesome, but it does need to utilize the new texture techniques available.

Perhaps if it takes place in a sandbox environment it would make sense to me.

For example: Let's say you get assigned an objective like having to assasinate this messenger and this messenger at his turn is someone else online that has to deliver this message (or whatever). You both have your seperate objectives, but they cross eachother in the way that this guy has to deliver this message as his target objective, and you on your turn have to try to prevent him from doing this.

This is just one example of what can be done, and this way you can play from the different angles any time, depending on the mission you get assigned to do. One time your the bad ass that has to assassinate someone, next you are someone that has to escort someone, or you have to deliver something, or whatever.

I think there's HUGE potential here and if well excecuted, this can be a true hit. The graphics are stunning imo. I thought the Source engine was dated. Guess not!

well IMO, all source games look the same, only one that stands out as different is M&M, the engine looks dated, its good for pc thanks to its scalability, but on consoles thats not needed

I already get it. No matter between Online or Offline, people walking around in the game consist of NPC and actual people (PC's? -No) playing the game. If the animations are actually as horny as they look there, then gimme.

Source games all have that same look indeed, gives me the same buggy feeling to every source-engined game. Some goes for UE3-games.. always guys with huge armor with big guns, blood and aliens. Or just metal looking environments.

Buggy? One of the big advantages with the source engine is that it is rock solid, but valves client steam was (and sort of still is) a buggy mess, but the engine is the most solid engine i know of.

I have played hl2,hl2ep1,hl2ep2,portal,tf2 and a shitload of mods for a huge amount of hours and i haven't had more than 5 crashes tops, but steam has been a bit of a bitch.

True... this trailer is quite old. I saw it quite a while back. Why did it pop up again? Are they getting ready to release more info at GDC? Will it be a 2008 title?

Have you seen the sales of Crysis and UT3? They're tragic.

I doubt we will see very many PC only titles in future.

I wish they would give a more in depth explanation of crossplay...but the look of the game is definitely nice, and I love that more games are using source, as it is pretty much my favorite engine out there =)
