Xbox 360 PS3

April, 1st. A weird date Tri-Ace chose anyway to announce their new Playstation 3 & Xbox 360 role playing game. We know nothing about it, not even the name of its publisher - even though we assume Square-Enix can't be far. All we got is a countdown and an artwork. Stay tuned...

Aside from Star Ocean, 'Valkyrie Profile' and 'Radiata Stories' are there other recent IPs. So if it's not a new IP, I guess it would fall under one of those. Nice to see tri-Ace bring on some PS3 support :| I'm guessing SE will be the publisher though as they've been for all their other games.

Their last two games were not that great, but hey, third time's the charm!

... looking forward to Star Ocean when it'll finally be available in Europe ... passed on IU because of the bad reviews ... and let's be honest, if you play a game 50+ hours, it better be darn good ;)

You talk like there are so few 40 hours RPGs out there.

SO4 is the best jRPG this year yet.
This in other hand, might be a pretty shitty game, with or without PS3 on board.

I love that the teaser site has the ubiquitous jRPG "random white crap floating down from the sky".

Seems a bit weak to be an April Fool's joke, especially as the payoff isn't till april 10.

I hope it is no Aprils fool joke, I always look forward to new RPGs: The more the merrier.

Despite all the hate I still think IU was decent and entertaining. Hopefully SO4 turns out alright as well. The English voice acting is kind of lame though… too bad it is still not common to include the Japanese voices.
And I still don’t get why they needed to change the UI to a CGI style. Considering the bad voice acting this looks like an error in their production priority list. They should have spent that additional founds and time on the voices and leave the UI alone.

Err… that got nothing to do with the new game. Anyway looks like Science Fiction with this orbital tower in the background. Taking into account that they just finished their work on the latest installment of the SO series I guess it will be a new IP.

There are not many genres where you see towers reaching into the Mesosphere.

Count how many jRPGs have Sci-Fi constructions... and how many have over the top magical towers?

SO4 is pretty great. most people talk and bring up the voice acting and story schtick constantly because of the hatred against the system its on. Buy the damn thing, or shut up and move on.
Face it, its a sequel to the mytical and somewhat inferior... SO3. WTF people expected... a 180º turn and overhaul against all the previous effort?
Its a good title and better than the previous one.

I don't know and I don't care. Do you know and care to elaborate? – I doubt it.
It looks futuristic to me, end of story.

We will see on 10 of April (thou I will be in Canada and cut off from internet for a month) or not.

It looks like some sort of Infinite Undiscovery sequel or perhaps, valkyrie profile. Hope it's not a joke, and hope it will be cool.

it is a pretty good game
that having been said, by your logic should we just accept them not making any improvements, and just continuing along their way?

the VAing in SO3 was horrible. the storyline in SO3 left a lot to be desired, especially by the end.
quite to the contrary, its quite fair to call them out on them and expect them to improve in regards to those matters. and they really didn't. to add to it, their alchemy system is probably weaker than SO3s. other than looking better, SO4 really isn't a huge improvement over SO3 (any claim it is is more mythical than SO3's mythical quality), which is worth noting considering how old SO3 is and the fact that the things they could have improved are pretty... improvable, and hardly require any sort of 180 turn.
