Images PC Xbox 360 PS3

Activision released some images of True Crime: Hong Kong, their future attempt at reviving an old franchise that was never really successful. Mix between an open world, a driving game, a third person shooter and a fighting game, the game should be released next Fall on Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC.

The main character is probably dead on the last picture: Notice the smoking gun

Yes.

I'm liking the asian protagonist, but I feel its going to look extremely out of place when they all start speaking english. Refer to Stranglehold if you don't know what I mean.

yep, the first 2 were comically bad.. TC2 being pretty much broken on the original xbox.

I just hope they get the controls right for the fighting and driving

This game rolls over GTA graphically. There is a video over at gametrailers.com that shows it in action. The movements, everything is just smoother and more refined.

A day 1 for me.

damn you're right there is. Looks nice. The fighting looks like it's take out of batman - can only be a good thing.

I remember having a lot of fun with the first game. Wasn't perfect but it did do some cool stuff.

Will keep a eye on this.

lol, i'm sorry, but no, canned animations do not in anyway look smoother then the euphoria engine.

I would agree that, from the short clip shown, everything about this game's graphics looks better than GTA IV (with the major exceptions of movement animation and physics). The characters just don't look like they have weight and they move like sped up robots. Then again, that vid might not even be gameplay, or the game could look way better by the time it's done. It is WAY too early to tell right now.

GTA's animation system interfered with movement of the character, in a way that made me give up on the game. They were too over exaggerated, almost as if you are trying to stop a car with a parking break. Just moving forward and back or left and right, you had to wait for the animation to finish. It was maddening, especially if you were trying to precisely do something or be somewhere.

I'll take canned with Havok over Euphoria for anything.

Was looking a bit rough, looking forward to this myself, I'm one of the 7 people in the world who actually really liked True Crime New York on the PS2 (my wife's one of the other 6).

lol.. sadly 7 people is probably not an under estimate. The trouble with New york was that it was far too ambitious for the hardware..so it just came off as broken

That is because it is physics based. If you are running, or even walking in real life, you have to plan your steps- you can't just change direction at a moments notice. It's called weight transfer, and is a real way of doing things, which is what the Euphoria engine is all about. It is a different way of doing things in games, but I like it.
Oh yeah, I can't stand New York as a setting either. Although I quess if you want to use a place full of corruption, it certainly delivers there...
