GSY Tech PC PS4 Xbox One

Since a lot of people on Gaf wanted to see a new framerate analysis of the PS4 version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, we found the courage to complete the prologue for the third time. Inside you'll find the very same passages we showed yesterday on Xbox One, namely the arrival in Velen and a short stroll in the swamps. Enjoy!
Update: One video added. It seems that even though the framerate is rather steady at 30 fps, the camera movement makes it look as if there is some stutter. Apparently, despite the fact that we keep turning the analog stick, the movement appears to stop regularly, causing this unpleasant impression that the game isn't smooth.

The last video essentially shows off one of the more notable areas where the framerate suffers throughout despite the latest patch.

Hi Gamersyde,please can you explain me how you do this video whit framerate test?
What software and hardware do you use? and how?

I Own xboxone and also Roxio Gamecap HDPRO but i don't know how to check the framerate in the video..

Because if i record the video whit XBOXONE and upload it on youtube it always run at 30 or 60fps (because is fps of video,not fps of the game)

Also if i record it whit roxio,the video always run at 60fps 720p (or 30fps 1080p) because is the fps of the video not the fps of the game..

So HOW you do this framerate test? can you explain to me how i can do the same think by myselph? what hardware and software i need,what you use for do this?

Akaik it's a tool Blim has developed and compiled all by himself so i don't think you can just download it online.

@Driftwood - Try lowering your camera control settings to 0.70. It really works wonders on removing (or greatly reducing) the stutter during camera movements. Try it.

Wow, the framerate in the swamps is garbage and this games framerate is just as bad if not worst than ACU's framerate was on the PS4 in comparison to the X1, yet there is no uproar over it because everyone is too busy sweating the devs over it. Its pathetic really.

I would agree with you if the game was one big swamp but it isn't. Assassin's Creed Unity was torture on the eyes a gorgeous game devastatingly ruined by 900p it was a smudge fest and unbearable.

I would love if developers gave a choice to use cinematic bars as a way of reducing the operational resolution thus than settling for 900p upscaled to 1080p. I had no issues with its application in the order 1886.

TBH the game is not optimized well. Swamps is really bad and I can't see what is so taxing in it. 900p gameplay and 1080p cut scenes will definitely help but I rather hope devs work on it rather than taking shorcuts.

While game is stellar from gameplay prospective, performance induces AC: Unity /GTA 5 PS3 flashbacks. Sub 30 FPS is already bad but there are plenty of places where it dips lower than 20. it just sucks and definitely makes me enjoy a game way less than it deserves.

Patch 1.03 makes the game ultra smooth for me on the XB1. Hope you PS4 users are able to get your problems fixed in 1.04 !!

We still haven't got patch 1.03 yet (at least in the USA).

The oddly juddery camera movement in this is certainly one of the biggest issues to fix.

Weird...in the UK we got the patch almost a week ago.

Framerate definitely still struggles in places...but the biggest annoyance for me is by far the loading times on the PS4 version. Dunno what the loading times are like on other platforms but they seem almost pre-patch bloodborne levels long on PS4...restarting starts becoming a real chore when you're at a part you're stuck on.

OK I've played the PS4 version with patch 1.03 but from these videos on gamersyde the XboxOne version looks better. I'm getting ready to purchase the game and want to get the smoothest version. I guess I'll wait for patch 1.04 and see if that puts PS4 at least even with the one in smoothness.

you know what was strange. bloodborne never had particularly long load times for me. even pre-patch. either the way people where going on about it was exagerated. or the drive i replaced the stock one with day 1 somehow loads faster (it's larger capacity but the same speed) who knows.

Xbone has no dynamic resolution. it's 1080p on the start screen and is 900p during gameplay.

I waited till it was patched before I got bloodborne, so never had to sit through the long loading personally either...but I did watch it via the broadcast room and the loading was pretty terrible pre-patch...not helped by the fact that the screen just said "bloodborne". They're acceptable now.

I really could do with upgrading my harddrive at some point this year..it's a constant battle for space now. Really wouldn't be surprised if models with bigger harddrives are announced at E3.

Overall I am pretty happy with the performance on PS4. I certainly prefer 1080p over 900p.

Even if it's not switching during gameplay, the term is still "Dynamic resolution". And (at least in theory) it could scale for both gameplay and cut-scenes as well.

I'm sure the framerates for both versions will be omptimized further, but a lot of people would probably prefer the dynamic resolution on ps4 as well. To make sure the game is fluid.
