Wow, the graphics are actually really impressive -- for an EA game and for a soccer game.

Lets hope you can actually do skillz in this one....(like step overs, dummys, stuff like that). fifa 07 i felt was a let down, because no skillz.

EA are really pushing next gen graphics. FIFA 07 looked stunning, Fight Night Round 3 looked stunning... okay, two games... haha

This looks really good though.

Fifa 07 did own PES based on the demos I played. Fifa 07 was for me the best sports gameplay ever.

But these graphics are slighty better IMO.

PES lost his touch, while Fifa have really stepped up. PES 7 needs to improve big time, before they can be named the best football game again.

if you can play the ball around faster this time, and if you can do tricks..this is gonna be a gr8 game!
if pes wants to compete, they have to make the graphics way better...

BTW, there are some more screenshots on IGN.com

Why are they releasing an 06/07 season game near the END of the season? EA are retarded.

Agree Slabs. Who's gonna buy the game for the same price as GRAW2 ? :S

How fun is it to just play CL even though the graphics are amazing.

BTW. The players LOOK as in reality compared to FIFA07. 07 really sucked because you cant dribble and you cant take the ball with an standingtackle. Instead you have to run by the player to take it. Does anyone have info about gameplay ?

Wonder how FIFA08 will look ? Like AMAZING. I just hope they improve graphics and of course : gameplay.

Yeah tackling is something that needs to be fixed

Along with the addition of the missing skills on the right stick, even just a decent lane change and stepover would be enough.

Agree with that, I got no problems with standing tackle tho..
A really important thing I want to see changed about the gameplay is that you can play the ball around faster (both in the air and on the ground)

played the 3 fifa games on 360 so far and all have been pretty good although the world cup versions were certainly limited.

fifa07 was a good football game though and a huge improvement over fifa05 (didnt play fifa06), hopefully this will add some improved gameplay features such as tricks and a better free-kick system and then fifa08 should be one of, if not the most complete fifa ever

The slide tackle is atrocious, it seems to lock on to the ball regardless of the position of the player who has it. I would prefer the PES system where you slide in the direction you are running.

I agree I really do believe fifa 07 was incredible. I was going to buy it, but I figure I'll go with the 08 version which will have the same mechanics only improved :)

Now this is how you release screenshots these look incredible.

The next football game I buy will have to have, real time diving/simulation (or whatever they call it nowadays).
I want to go down like i've been shot by a sniper, roll around all over the place clutching my face and crying out in pain.
Then get up quickly, smash the ball in the net from the freekick and run into the crowd to receive their adulation.

Now that's proper Football :)

So this is FIFA, with a different name. Then next Autumn will be FIFA 08 I suppose.

Even when there is not a world cup there is room for more than one FIFA a year! Think I'll pass, I'm a PES man anyway.

The gameplay in PES is top notch still (even though I suck compared to 5. What hurts is the missing features like full editing, replays, missing teams and the fact that "The Ming" isn't in it.

Also that game is screaming out for a "Save n Share" mode for Goal of the Month. (Ironically pioneered on the EA published game Burnout Revenge). If there is a god, Konami will start taking advantage of Xbox Live properly.

Why would they release the champions league game so late in the competition? This is totally bogus. Anyways. I do like FIFA07 and to be honest people that complained about the problems with the game, are people that didnt play enough of it to notice its virtues. I got pretty good at it (ranked 3000 last time I checked), and I highly recommend it. And this comes from a person who had only played PES/WE games until this year.
There are only 3 things they really need to fix...
1: Players of the same team colliding with each other while running for the ball.
2: More intuitive selection of the player when you dont have the ball
3: Take off the up-up das trick cuz it really takes away from the game.
About that dash trick, I was able to defeat the number one in the world playing really dirty but only cuz he uses that damn up-up dash trick which makes players like ronaldinho run so fast its almost impossible to stop unless you cheat with your defense.

*Oooh Aaah* downscaled bullshots. I looked at the Fifa07 downscaled shots too way back when (like 2 months ago) and then tried the demo, which was jagged to hell and had severe slowdown. You people never learn.

That may be true but at least you can use different weapons, different maps (as in layoutts), different vehicles, different storylines.

In football what can you do differently?

It's all the same.

Im not saying the shooters are all innovative but football games hardly ever change.
