Developer Diary PC Xbox 360 PS3

It's a day before Christmas Eve and Atari released this Dev Diary video of Test Drive Unlimited 2. Another good news is that Gamesyde has just been invited to a preview event of the game in January. That way, we will be able to give you our first impression on this sequel before its february release.

Am I the only one who doesn't care about "living the High life". I find all that stuff to be filled with shallow and pretencious people. Yuck. Of course, I out-grew the party scene a long time ago- those people never seem to. Driving around the Islands is kinda cool though...

Nope, totally agree with you. You just know the majority of them couldn't trust their *friends* as far as they could throw them.

I'll be concentrating on the driving, that's what I loved about the first game: Not so much the mechanics, but just the fact you could go almost anywhere.

With 4x4s, hopefully I'll finally be able to reach some of those peaks!

It amazes me how intent the developers are to improve just about everything in this sequel except the one thing that needed the most attention, the driving mechanics and physics model.

As I love to go to Ibiza and been there many times, I am a bit afraid that they just call teh driving spot Ibiza without really having the Island rebuilt.
That would suck! This Island has so many cool places (when it comes to recognizable streets, beaches, hills, spots, citys and building) that it would be really a shame when they just build a landscape that could be anywhere in the world......

nice that atari would boast about weekly logins to TDU1 "180k" but to keep the fans happy not only did they delay the release of the new game but now they have also shut down the xbox 360 servers, pretty stupid move id say as there is still over a month till TDU2 comes out.

You people are missing the point. Racing? Go play Burnout. Realism? Forza and Gran Turismo. This game is gonna be good for different reasons. Yeah, if you care about physics you'll be disappointed, so get over it and find a game that suits you. To me, this game reeks of San Andreas... you're a rich son-of-a-blank and you get to cruise the open road in some of the finest and most expensive cars on the planet. It's about freedom more than anything.

I'll fully agree that it's switched from a more serious racer to a "high-life" simulator, but it's not necessarily a bad thing. I loved being a millionaire in SA and I'll no doubt enjoy it in this too.

I don't think I'm missing the point at all. I love the idea behind TDU but it's still a racing game, and the primary gameplay mechanic is broken.

Freedom aint replacing gameplay.
