Developer Diary PC Xbox 360 PS3

Until the invasion can really begin in February 2013, here is a chance to discover a bit more about the making of Aliens: Colonial Marines. The team explains how important it was to them to respect the franchise and insists on the game's authenticity.

Gearbox is so annoying. You'd would think for all the time they spend on games you would get something half way decent. The first BIA was a great start, they took forever with the second only to ruin it. I won't even get into the third thats coming. Now with this, it's going to be boring with a bunch of cut scene's filled with....... Why do I even care to respond?

This could be the Prometheus of gaming equivalent, ie you wait for ages, get loads of hype, then it turns out to be a massive turkey.

I like the basic idea (and the concept art). We'll see what's what next year. I have hopes for this game, that's for sure.

I'm fairly certain I'll enjoy it. Come on, it doesn't look bad. At this point I have more faith in this adding anything worthwhile to Alien canon than Prometheus while the game is bound to be intense and tense. The marine sections in the A vs. P games always were and those were never really AAA games either. I guess I'm just resigned to the idea that every studio can crank out top shelf entertainment. Sometimes a little less will do the trick too, no matter how much we want the respective franchise to really be done justice to.

Decent-looking crap is what I predict this to be. Exactly like Prometheus.

How can you get so much Alien vomit or blood or whatever in your face? (“Authenticity.” Yeah right.) BTW I don't think we have ever had a game which damages you with the Alien blood (with the exception of AvP from Capcom which is rather a projectile attack). I guess the gameplay will be really punishing, but somebody should just try it, like putting it in a hardcore mode.

Alien 3 on NES and Genesis has this (if I remember correct) as well as Alien Trilogy on PSone. Not sure about other games though.

I'm affraid that's exactly what's gonna happen. Just the fact that they don't ignore godsawful third movie and take it into continuation already worries me. Coulda make a real sequel, like it should've been.

AvP on PC for example. You got sprayed by it during close combat and if I remember right, even walking over dead alien damaged You.
I think getting hurt by aliens blood is a must for alien game. Its too pussy, when it doesnt hurt You. It adds to the thrill of combat with those bastards.

BTW...I loved Prometheus movie. It was well done IMO.

Also don't like it that they using lifters in one scene, it was only used as a weapon in aliens because Ripley didn't have anything better to use and it worked great for that particular scene.
Playable marine seems like another faceless nameless fps hero, like too many before him. I'd prefer to see someone like Hicks. Actually you know what? It shoulda been Hicks. Don't give me crap about Aliens 3, I wrote in my last comment that if they wanted to make a real and perfect sequel to Aliens, they shoulda ignored 3 like it never happened.

In any case, as a huge Aliens fan (as in second movie, don't like first and 4th much, absolitely hate 3d) I'm not really impressed. They look like they're pretending to be Aliens fans, but they aren't. Fans would have done it differently.

So you only liked Aliens (2nd)... huge fan?

Also I really hate when people try to compare quality of other material like books, games, comics, to their latest incarnation.
If someone is making this game, I'd like them to take some liberties and be creative with it.

It's part of the reason why Nolan's Batman world is so cool. Because he handles it like any other writer would, and puts his own spin on it, doing something totally rad with it.

There's absolutely 0 sense of whether this is good or not yet

If you put aside the story, the control of the game itself and the mechanics of movement of the character is blunt, awkward. While I have nothing in it are interested.
