Super super excited for this game!

I loved Uncharted 2, and since Uncharted 1 I was hoping for a desert/middle east type of setting to be similair to the movie The Mummy, seems my wishes is coming true!

I am definitely buying this as soon as it is released, good to know online multiplayer (co-op and comepetitive) is going to be in it again.

I hope the music delivers this time, I want proper orchestral soundtrack, other than Main Theme/Nathan 2.0 the music is decent.

Graphics looks amazing, can't wait to see their tweaked engine and what they can do with the effects, especially the sand.

PS. Really digging Nathan's new clothing style! Though something is off with Drake's jaw.

i dont get what's with drakes newly formed jutting jaw. but aside from that. i dont think i've ever been this excited for a game in like... EVER. i'm actually kinda giddy, like a kid at christmas. 2011 is gonna be insane. considering i largely only buy exclusives i actually fear for my wallet next year. it's packed with games i want.

3D support is great, and kinda expected (seriously, i was half expecting the game to have a "uncharted 3-D" title)

it'll be interesting to see if this betters the second game. i can't imagine it tbh since i pretty much consider uncharted 2 as as close to "perfect" as a game has managed to be. but i'm super psyched to find out.

One thing I want to add is that I hope they do a multiplayer beta for Uncharted 3 as they did for Uncharted 2.

Just so they can make it as fun as possible and as balanaced as possible...and I hope I get in LOL

I am still excited that it is in the middle east with the desert, sand...etc. I love the movie The Mummy alot!

uncharted 2 was amazing in the SP department but i found the MP to be pretty easy to forget. If they keep the same SP quality and improve the MP by a large margin it will be an amazing game.

Of course it will. In the pre-rendered cutscenes, where it has always looked terribly good. Now gameplay is just what you expect with its normal visual imperfections of running the game on the actual machine.

ND prove me wrong, but i can't phantom a gameplay scenario where desert can be a better idea than the last locations they planned. I bet there is a way more interesting terrain to go than just what they are teasing.

will probably just be one or two levels (like the snow ones in uncharted2). Obviously theres going to be some use of quick sand and sand storms to keep things interesting

Very good news. I didn't like the first game and didn't fall for the hype over the second game, but it was a good game. I personally didn't think it was any better looking than some other high profile titles out there. Lots of low res textures and wasn't impressed with the animation, but the series is getting better with each game so the 3rd game may just be a charm.

i dunno, there are a lot of people who prefered the more confined and structured "single" area of uncharted 1. where there is variation, but not to the point of globe trotting (which can sometimes make the game feel a bit disconnected) personally i'm not one of those people. i liked the variety of the locals in U2 and it made sense to go to them. tbh i just want it to be as good (better would be a nice bonus) as uncharted 2, with as much care and attention put into the gamplay, environments, story and characters. it doesnt "need" to be better visually since unchared 2 still blows away all competiton anyway. but i'm sure ND won't just rest on their laurels. they'll want to push the envelope even more, and i can't wait to see the outcome. if it's even close to those images in-game (unchared 2 wasnt too far off tbh) then i'll be more then happy.

I hear ya! This game is going to be great, but after reading the new GI article about the Tomb Raider reboot, I have to say that Drake might have some serious competition! Making it an open world, dynamic environment with mature gameplay and a more realistic, believable Lara sounds amazing (read the article scans on N4G if you haven't already). Anyway, I am equally excited for both of these games. UC3 I KNOW will be amazing, but the new Tomb Raider (if done correctly) could be even better!

Have to agree with your second statement there. I don't doubt that ND can make a desert look gorgeous, but if the whole game is set in and around sand dunes and rock cliffs, I will be disappointed. I loved the globe trotting of the second one. Kept me really looking forward to each new location to see where I would go next. This game can't come soon enough! UC2 was the only game that I have ever played from start to finish 3+ times!

BTW, not to be a dick, but its fathom, not phantom (didn't want someone to have to correct you in person).

Looks like ND pretty much confirmed it WON'T take place in one location. http://arkhamcity.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=974&s...

Some highlights of the story:

-"Nathan Drake's journey will put you through new challenges and take you to stunning locations around the world, from a derelict chateau in France, to the merciless Arabian Dessert."

-The story focuses on the hero’s relationship with his mentor and father figure, fan fave Victor “Sully” Sullivan, and has him searching for a legendary lost city that will ultimately take him to the Arabian Peninsula and the vast wasteland of the Rub’ al Khali Desert, also known as the Empty Quarter. (looks like the desert will be one of, if not the last area in the game)

- "The inspiration for the story, says Hennig, came from Naughty Dog’s desire to take on the challenge of conceiving and building out gameplay scenarios within a desert locale "challenge,” because organic elements like water, fire and sand are technically difficult to credibly render with animation. Says Hennig: “When we first came up with the idea of sand, you see everyone’s eyes light up here and go, ‘Yeah, that’s going to be really hard — let’s do it!’” Adds Naughty Dog co-president Evan Wells: “We’re a bunch of nerds. We just look forsomething that will be a technical, artistic challenge, and allowed us to push into an area of the world and history we’ve never tapped into before.”

-The execs at Naughty Dog walked us through one of the game’s levels, and while we can’t tell you anything about the locale (it actually wasn’t the desert), we can tell you that it was quintessential Uncharted, marked by dynamic camera work and gameplay that requires you to jump and climb through treacherous spaces that are in an almost constant state of change — or in this case, catastrophic collapse. Innovations? Several, including enhanced backward climbing and the ability to fight multiple baddies at once. Finally, Wells stressed that much time and effort is being lavished upon expanding Uncharted’s online multiplayer and co-op capabilities, too; expect more details to come in the coming months.

Sounds promising!

Hearing that ol' T.E. is inspiration in this is awesome. Is it just me or does Drake look a little different?

Pre-rendered? And those are in game assets with some extra rendering. It'll look close, and any /in-game/ cutscenes will likely be pretty close to that.
And you'd be a fool to expect them not to change up the environments. U2 was hardly one stale similar level after another.

Well, I doubt they would want to attract new fans but if they want to, they should maybe make the combat and platforming a lot better. Make it less of a casual game. Make combat + platforming in the same sections, not have them be divorced off because indivdually they're pretty boring.

They have a lot to learn on about platforming, and not making it a boring guided experience (i.e. a joke). Combat could be more inspired, or improved by not having bullet sponge enemies, no more supernatural enemies, smarter and more dynamic AI, less Gears of War blocks combat level design.

Or just have the ability for platforming in any of the combat scenarios, which they showed very little off in 2, like in the city or on those towers later.

3d meh, but if anything can sell me on using that tv next year, it will be this.

As for his jaw, yeah wtf? are they trying to make him more appealing to americans? or just trying to make him look older? but, and it pains me to say this... he kinda starting to look like sam fishers (the sam fisher on his last adventure, not the 4 diffrent sam fishers before that..)

Uncharted 2 would be a perfect game if
A: More puzzles, and lightly more demanding ones
B: slight less shooting
C: less chloe and more sully
D: actually listen to the fan base and fix your MP because the weapons are fucked your spawn points are shot to shit your matchmaking is a mess (seriously if someone drops out IS IT THAT FUCKING HARD TO LET SOMEONE NEW JOIN!) and the lag is fucking horrific, you give the host to the guy with the wankest bandwidth, give us servers)
E: Had some books to go along with the games... seriously, i love this world, i want more of it, and 1 game every few years is not enough (there is a book next year btw...1)
