EA isn't the type of company that will let others steal their thunder, so just a few days after the awesome NBA2k6 trailer, here is a brand new image of NBA Live 2006. Not bad, not bad !

Looks good, but not as good as 2K6. It also has AA added post render.

ehh gotta see it in motion...it looks like its still usin that unrealistic white glow for lighting on all players. the sweat isnt as realistic looking as nba 2k6 and the skin definition is less in detail. They obviously are not using the realistic cloth animation that wowed us from 2k6, But nice looks like they actually gave a damn

Yeah competition is great, now we're going to see how the sports that they do not have exclusive rights too excel while the other ones suffer. Shame

Funny thing is, wheres the other players? If the game looks like this for real it'll be great though. And if this game can look like this, what the hell is up with Madden?

Looks ok, don't like the lighting though, but NBA 2k6 still looks better, even in stills. It also looks like they will be adding the cloth simulation like 2k6 has since you can see his uniform "floating" off from his body, if they weren't going to add the simulation there should be no reason to do that.

For me it was between nba 2k and nba live. The nba live vid had better animation and live always has better gameplay and modes (including a dunk contest). But 2K had better graphics. Seeing this screen shows that nba live is definately the one to get, NBA live has taken over interms of graphics, motion, and possibly gameplay.

Well this is great but doesnt look better than 2k. The truth is its a lie and i still will buy both 2k and live just to choose between myself which is better. Just like i will be getting all three systems.................Just to get my hands on everything, nuthing will be exclusive for me. :)

competition is the best thing for any game genre and tt looks like there is massive competition for between these two title, almost a bit cattish.....can't wait

personally, purely on graphics...i'd still give nba 2k the lead, i just think the skin has that really realistic semi translucent look to it that real skin has...like if u watch the movie the incredibles.

lets hope EA try to make a tennis game that could rival topspin for top spot so that they push each other

just on a side note...will sports games still come out every year as now with online and everything rosters and players can be downloaded......so that instead of releasing the same game with little improvements each year they should release them every 2 - 3 years with massive overhauls in gameplay and graphics and everything

I bet they'll stay on the yearly track, as usual.
Then, you'll only see a big difference by looking at the first and last on the machine (again, as usual).

However, I'm sure the second incarnations from both companies will look a lot better than these, as they are just getting a grasp on the machines power, and will already have the basic engine in place to work with next time.

what bullshit. this is so filtered and processed after the fact, that they will never achieve this onscreen. EA's little retaliation is misrepresented and untrue. We were assured that what we saw from NBA2K6 was real time, AND in game. They even purposely gave you indication that it was indeed realtime, with the aliasing(which won't even be there in the final product). Anyway, no matter how good this could look for EA, the animation will be crap, just like it always is.

If they truly wanted to steal some thunder away from 2K6, they would have also added that this was in game, running in real time... but of course they couldn't tell you that because it wouldn't be true.

I have a feeling you're right spacemanjupiter.
I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt though, and when and if they fail me, I'll never buy another one of thier sports games.
(I say sports games, because I probably couldn't refuse a 360 version of Burnout!)

In my opinion that looks better than 2K6 stills, the player models, clothes and sweat all look much more realistic (though the trickles just dont seem right). Remains to be seen if it actually looks like this after comparing the NFL images to the actual gameplay footage =/
