PS3

Sega put online the official japanese site of Valkyrie of the Battlefield. As usual now it's 100% in flash so I've decompiled everything to get the images to a more enjoyable format. A trailer should be released soon.

dont know what to say about the cell shading effect theyve got going on here...

does it look good? does it look like its drawn by a child? looks rough?..... im confuddled, i think eternal sonatas (cutscenes) cell shading still tops everything else done so far

im going to lay down

I said this before and I'll say it again. Normally I'm a sucker for non-photorealistic rendering styles, but I must admit that I find this game's visual twist totally tacked on. I mean, when you think of WW2 or any imaginary WW2-ish conflict, is the first thing that comes to your mind crayons?

It's as if developers thought using a weird ass NPR style would automatically bestow their game with a certain level of artistic credibility. Sorry, guys, it's neat, but feels terribly out of place.

I think Sega is quite neutral, all platforms are getting their share of exclusives. PS3 is getting this and Yakuza 3 (and that crazy sound novel thing that will never see the light of day outside of Japan - and everyone should be grateful for that), Xbox 360 is getting Universe at War: Earth Assault and a bunch of XBLA retro releases (and let's not forget older games like the first Condemned and Chromehounds), while Wii is getting NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams, some Sonic spin-offs, Alien Syndrome and so on.

shading looks great, naruto on the ps2 tried to do this kind for the comic book effect, but this one looks like it perfected the shading

Interesting art style but i agree i think its totally out of place for a game of this type, as for Sega they have deffinately become more favourable to Sony, probably because many of the games on Xbox weren't that sucessful.

It makes sense to go where the money is, which oddly isn't on the PS3, Sega never seem to get it right.. !

Chrome Hounds is From Software. And From Software always was loyal to the Xbox Brand. Sure SEGA might have published it but they aren't the developer. The same with Universe at war. There is no real in house team working at Xbox Exclusives at SEGA at the time. There are for the PS3 and the Wii. All the Xbox titles are from non in house teams. Heck even the multiplatform ones. The inhouse teams made the PS3 ones and the external teams the 360 ones.

Nope, AM2 is working on the Xbox 360 version of Virtua Fighter 5, Sonic Team has been working on the Xbox 360 version of Sonic the Hedgehog, SEGA Racing Studio is working on the Xbox 360 version of Sega Rally Revo. The only exception that I can think of was Virtua Tennis 3.

They have little girls in outfits not suitable for combat on the front lines. That alone makes the game out of place period. To complain about how the art is out of place is pretty inane considering the whole game is pretty ridiculous in the first place. I'm not saying the game wouldn't be fun but I wouldn't take this game seriously AT ALL. Just enjoy it for what it is.

actually its a perfectly logical choice. considering Red is co-developing this game, and few of Red's games have ever been released outside of Japan, its questionable if this game ever will. and once any out-of-Japan release is taken out of the equation, the 360 is a non-option. at this point, after having major Japanese release after major Japanese release fail to seriously move the 360 in the Japan, there's absolutely no reason for any Japanese dev to choose the 360 as the platform of choice unless A) they are planning to release outside of Japan and expect reasonable sales or B) Microsft is outright paying for the development of the game. Since A is questionable, and B isn't the case, once again, the 360 is pretty much a non-option.

that leaves the PS3 or the Wii. and the reality is only a handful of 3rd party devs have managed to break Nintendo's lock on selling Wii content. and if Sega doubts this game will be one of them, that leaves one logical option.

I think the art is really pretty and definately want to know what's the game about/ in which way the gameplay works , for I don't think this will be ur regular 3rd person shooter just cell shaded.

To talk down on the game although we only have some images and don't even know how far it is in developement seems far too hasty for me - maybe a bit of prejudice ?

@ noxian)

really sound argument
