If they actually let us run and slide and still keep shooting along iwth cover and destructability of environment this game will be epic, as long as it has awesome multiplayer to go with it :D

Is it me or do japnese devs have a fetish with small things. It's almost as if they don't realize most computer users have broad band connections and that opening up an image won't slow down a computer. Either that or they release the smallest image they can to make the game look better than it actually does. It's 2010 for crying out loud.

cover, shoot, cover, shoot...run to the next cover...shoot, cover...etc. I just explained the Gears experience :P

Atleast Vanquish is trying to do something unique and "other stuff".

You guys are making this way to simplified. Was Gears just basically grab cover, shoot, grab cover shoot, rinse repeat? yes, and was it one of the most fun and intense experiences due to how such a simple formula was used? Fuck yes it was. For the vast majority of people who played it at least.

Sliding on your knees ect... can be great fun or pure crap, it all just depends on how they figure out how to use it and how to present a challenge around said formula.

lets wait for gameplay before we start getting too excited OR before we start bashing the game.

But since the Bayo devs certainly seem to "get" action gameplay, my hopes are high this game will deliver.
As for being glad about no MP, why would anyone be against even more replay value??? unless you think the dev of MP might take too much attention away from the SP production?

I think that's exactly it for a lot of people. For me, that's a weak reason unless coupled with the gameplay not really lending itself well to MP(outside of co-op I suppose). A game like Dead Space just doesn't seem like it'd benefit from having some half-baked MP mode thrown in. Moreover, if a game's MP mode doesn't seem like it'd be able to even slightly compete with the top dogs MP-wise, then I'd prefer the resources be spent on making the SP better. This is obviously highly subjective and a good deal selfish, but it doesn't make it any less true for me at least. Chances are, if I'm neck deep in Reach's MP, I'm probably not going to bother with many other games' MP modes unless they offer something different or substantially up the ante. So essentially....more SP please.

That why Gears is a platform seller and one of the best selling and rated Shooters out there? :)

Also, this has a good number of things that games like Stranglehold (I think that's the name, John Woo game) and WET did. Neither of which were particularly excellent. I'll wait to see them do it RIGHT before I get excited, personally.

Maybe to 360 owners (which I once was), but Gears bored me within weeks. All you could do was being on cover or else you would die, simple. It was a cover game and I personally thought Gears was very overrated for what it gave. My cousin bought a 360 in the beginning of 2010 and got Gears 2, he let me play it, so I did for 3 hours to get a proper feeling of it and compared it to Gears 1, sure better locations...etc. but all I kept doing was going cover to cover, boring really, IMO obviously.

About the whole Stranglehold, WET thing...we dont know how it will play and if the combat will be environment interactive or anything.
I personally am super excited to see this in motion , thats all I am saying. I am not being like RAPTOR saying "day 1" without even looking at the gameplay.
But if the game is as fast paced and using shooting, manuevers and melee combat the way Mikami puts it then I hope it turns out good. Nothing wrong to be excited for a game, but making a decision to buy a game before even watching it in motion is wierd :)

You dont see it in the images how the character is approach his enemies?
Weapon and outfit can transform into different modes on the fly, suit being a tool in action. Various ways of taking out your enemies.
I am just saying what I have read and seen in images, and from the describtion and images they are trying to do something unique.

I do see that but it seems the core gameplay will be a "stop and pop" style like Gears (which I enjoyed both games to no end).

I dont ithink ts the core considering he says it is going to be a fast paced shooter and not a tactical cover shooter like Gears. You cant make a fast paced action if you keep going into cover. You need a character to be fast and agile, and I am sure the cover and shoot is going to be a part of it, but I doubt its going to take a big role in it like Gears.

Maybe like Uncharted, were platforming is a big part of it but cover system is there for usage.
But for Vanquish the speed and melee being a big part of it and cover being there for player to use.

Japanese people like to exagerate their stuff, from anime to games even in movies...in one way or the other. If I am thinking the way he describes it then it will be a beat em up shooter, if that makes any sense :P
You know the RPG game Resonance of Fate were the characters makes stylish jumps and manuevers and shoots around, thats the way I am thinking, but in real time...atleast thats what I am hoping for :)

Do we have to wait till E3 for some actual gameplay. The cinematic trailer gave us some hints of what they're going for, but we really need to see some ingame movement.
