It's such a common cliche to say "80's music is the best & today's music is shit!" I find the reality is that most people are embarrassingly out of touch, or are just too set in there ways to engage with music today.
Hell the vast majority of music in the 80's was overrated rubbish. I find that the 60's & 70's were much stronger.
80's music has spawned far more classics though, far more contemporary and timeless than the majority of music created in the past decade. I don't see a classic compilation of hits from the 00's being anywhere near as popular as from other decades.
